A suburban New England community
Greenville Avenue has rolling hills, a vast community park and several places to eat, drink and shop. Situated in the northeast corner of Interstate 295 and U.S. Route 6, this Johnston neighborhood offers several ways for neighbors to stay active and enjoy a peaceful way of life. “There’s a little bit of a country feel there, but it’s near amenities, with access to all utilities and easy access to shopping and highways,” says Gregory Coupe, principal broker at Long Realty Inc. in Chepachet.
Cape Cod style homes in Greenville Avenue are often updated with attractive additions.
A classic Rhode Island town
Greenville Avenue is full of lush, suburban streetscapes, where houses have half-acre lots, stone walls and basketball hoops in their driveways. Greenville Avenue is at the epicenter of Johnston recreation. In the middle of the neighborhood is Johnston Memorial Park, a vast green space with a woodsy paved pathway around a pond. On the weekends, kids play baseball on Kennedy Field and scale the park’s playground. “You walk your dog there if you want. It’s a small park for Johnston residents. Anyone can go, but it’s mostly Johnston residents,” Coupe says. Basketball, volleyball and gymnastics happen at the Johnston Indoor Recreation Center, which holds open gym for Johnston residents on Saturdays.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
