The Boulevard Grill offers a mix of upscale dining and bar food in a multilevel space with outdoor seating and a college-style bar. Groceries may be found at Randy’s Bi Lo Foods. There is also a Dollar General and a Family Dollar in the area.

Wine Festival at Sandyvale
“Our annual Wine Festival is September 6th and 7th,” says Diana Kabo, President of Sandyvale Memorial Gardens and Conservancy. "We have that every year, the first Friday and Saturday after Labor Day. We don’t just get attendees from Johnstown. We also get visitors from out of state.” Besides its Wine Festival, Sandyvale Memorial Garden and Conservancy hosts tours, yoga classes and concerts in the green space. “Sandyvale is run by volunteers, so a lot of retired folks donate some of their hours to help in the greenhouse,” says Kabo. “It’s a social thing for them. They get out, meet other people and work together to do whatever needs to be done. It’s nice. They get to know each other and talk about their families.” Sandyvale acts as a necessary green space for nearby communities and people who may not have a community park. To raise money for the St. Vincent De Paul Family Kitchen, with the help of the Johnstown Area Heritage Association, the Sip Rock & Duck Drop event offers live music, local vendors and a duck drop cannon raffle. Religious services are held at the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Grove Avenue United Methodist Church and New Hope Community Church.

Residents walk, jog and bike in Sandyvale Memorial Gardens and Conservancy
Accessible through the Horner Street Bridge is Sandyvale Memorial Gardens and Conservancy, an 11-acre park that stretches along the Stonycreek River. Sandyvale is a backyard for nearby communities run by a nonprofit organization. Once a pioneer cemetery before three floods compromised the area, Sandyvale has restored the location, and is open to the public, offering a dog park, a healing garden, a conservatory, a Veterans Memorial, a community garden, walking paths and other attractions. “The healing garden has a huge chime tower and floral displays,” says Kabo. “In that area, we also have different garden rooms.” Many residents utilize the dog park to let their four-legged friends stretch out and play. Bikers and joggers enjoy Sandyvale Trail, which connects to The Path of the Flood Trail and The James Mayer Trail. The park also hosts events throughout the year. “At the Veterans Circle, we hold events for veterans,” says Kabo. “There are trees planted there that represent each war as well as plaques and historic markers throughout the park.”

Due to its proximity to the Stonycreek River, Osborne is a floodplain. “This is a floodplain,” says Lehman. “We’ve had three great natural floods but nothing since ’77. The Army Corps of Engineers redid the river walls. They’re at a pretty steep slope, so it would take a lot of water to flood down here again.”
