Brown Estates balances a rural and urban vibe in Kansas City
With large plots of land and plenty of tree cover, Brown Estates offers a quiet and private lifestyle just 8 miles south of downtown Kansas City. It’s not uncommon to find single-family homes on acre-sized and multi-acre lots. The result is a combination of a rural vibe and proximity to urban conveniences, with grocery stores and entertainment venues less than 3 miles away. "It's a neighborhood where you get the country in the city," says Gloria Wilson, a Realtor at Platinum Realty with over 30 years of experience selling homes in Kansas City. "You don't get the hustle and bustle of hearing the traffic; you don't hear a lot of sirens. It's its own niche community."
Large acreages on quiet streets
Smaller single-family homes are spread out on large tracts of land. There are also options for those wishing to be closer to neighbors. Ranch-style homes and bungalows with front porches are two common styles in the neighborhood. Shingle siding gives a rustic feel to many houses. Although sidewalks are not always available, dead-end streets create quiet traffic areas. A 1,000-square-foot ranch may sell for $150,000, while a 2,600-square-foot raised ranch may sell for $213,000.
Brown Estates is a mostly rural area with country style homes and large lots.
