Location, location, location: it’s what sets The Country Club Plaza apart from anywhere else in Kansas City, also known as "KC." It's considered one of the city's largest, most architecturally distinctive shopping centers, adopting a Moorish or Spanish-Revival style across its 20-plus upscale restaurants and shops. Locals enjoy the decorative ironwork, stucco facades and ceramic tile mosaics, complemented by wide, tree-canopied sidewalks and sunny afternoons spent at one of the plaza's many outdoor cafes. Living in Country Club Plaza also offers the rare opportunity to live close to large swaths of green spaces and flowing creeks, all within a few miles of downtown’s nightlife.
It's all about shopping in the plaza
The Country Club Plaza itself is a sprawling shopping center where locals can window shop from home goods stores, cosmetics, clothing and bookstores. Restaurants are speckled throughout the outlet and consist mostly of upscale chains, including the traditional red-and-white tablecloth Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant and the extravagant McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks. Other restaurants within walking distance are Cooper's Hawk and Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse, a buffet-style restaurant with bottomless meat options. Along Westport Road and north of Country Club Plaza, locals enjoy breakfast at Snooze, an AM Eatery, before stopping at the neighboring Marsh's Sun Fresh Market for groceries. The neighborhood is enviably close to downtown Kansas City and the subsequent nightlife of the Power and Light District, or P and L. "It's the epicenter of our nightlife and only about 15 minutes by bus or streetcar,'" Caliman says. "KC Live, this huge club, hosts this huge NYE celebration that attracts many people in and around the city."

Limited housing aside from Townsend Place Condos
Housing options in the neighborhood are comparatively limited due to the sheer size of the shopping center relative to the area's boundaries. However, buildings such as the towering Townsend Place Condo offer spacious condominium housing within walking distance of highly-rated restaurants and abundant retail shops. These upscale condos tend to include one bedroom and one bathroom, granite countertop kitchens, spacious living areas and commanding views of the surrounding area. Because of its location, condos around Country Club Plaza usually sell between $500,000 and $625,000.

Along Bush Creek
It's easy for residents to get out of their condos and hit one of several surrounding green spaces or waterfronts. The neighborhood is along Brush Creek, and boat tours are offered from a nearby pier. Additionally, the lower stretch of Mill Creek Park provides walking trails neighboring the attractive Kemper Museum Contemporary of Arts and the well-known Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Brush Creek offers boat tours at a nearby pier and is the backdrop for both the Kauffman Legacy Park and shows at Frank A Theis Park Amphitheater. A few miles east along Brush Creek is Martin Luther King Jr Park.

KC Central Library draws students throughout the city
Students may attend Longfellow Elementary School, which shares a C-minus Niche grade with Rosedale Middle School and Central High School. Kansas City School District students take advantage of the KC Central Public Library. "We have book fairs and readings all of the time," says Jessie Caliman, a KC native and librarian at the Kansas City Central Public Library. "The original vault is now a movie theatre, which the kids enjoy." The University of Kansas is about 43 miles away.
