Convenient suburban living in South Kansas City
The aesthetic of the Country Lane Estates neighborhood matches its name. It’s a community comprised of expansive midcentury ranch-styles situated on quarter-acre lots. Residents here enjoy biking and hiking at nearby green spots like Leawood City Park, and retail and restaurant options are also nearby. While the community's name may suggest a more rural lifestyle, Country Lane Estates is conveniently bounded by Interstate 435 — which residents can use to get to downtown Kansas City — and State Line Road — a major commercial thoroughfare. Adding to the neighborhood's appeal is the St. Joseph Medical Center, known for its senior care and rehabilitation services. With these amenities and a centralized location, it's no wonder that "some people have lived in the neighborhood since it was developed in the 1960s," says Stacey Johnson-Cosby, a Realtor at ReeceNichols who has experience throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Midcentury homes
"Big trees, big lots" is how another Realtor, Jeremy Applebaum, with Realty Executives of Kansas City, describes Country Lanes Estates’ residential lifestyle. Situated along curving sidewalk-lined streets are classic midcentury designs like ranch-styles to split-levels to mansard homes with attached garages. Tucked at the end of cul-de-sacs are a number of newer, contemporary residences with forested backyards. Prospective residents will also find some condo and apartment options here, like Cloverset Valley Apartment Homes. Country Lane Estates is also home to Brookdale Wornall Placeliving, a retirement residential care facility. Price points here range from about $100,000 to approximately $330,000, with two-bedroom condos falling near the lower end of the scale, while larger newly renovated builds tend to go for closer to the $300,000 price point. "You get a good value at today's prices. Anything that's kind of in that southern Kansas sector is going to be a lot of bang for your buck," Applebaum says.

Nearby recreational spaces
The 66-acre Leawood City Park, located just off State Line Road, is a recreational hub where visitors can enjoy the sand volleyball court, and joggers can spend their afternoon on the Indian Creek Trail while they enjoy the tall trees that surround them. Those with pets won't have to leave their furry friends behind; this green space features the Leawoof Dog Park. During the summer, the park opens the Leawood Aquatic Center, where locals can spend the hot days doing cannonballs off the diving boards and gliding down the spiral water slide. Another option for summer dips is the Longview Lake Swim Beach, which is less than 10 miles away. The park hosts events like the Sand Cinema, a summer movie series where people come from all over to watch family-friendly flicks and play games. Those who prefer to spend their days golfing will be near a couple of options, including the popular public 18-hole Minor Park Golf Course.

The award-winning Jasper's Italian Restaurant and other nearby spots
Locals here are just minutes away from the many beloved eateries situated around State Line Road. Located off this major thoroughfare on 103rd Street is the Watts Mill Plaza, where people can grab groceries at Cosentino's Price Chopper or catch a show at The Comedy Club of Kansas City. Also in the plaza is Jasper's Italian Restaurant, an award-winning local favorite where patrons enjoy flavorful pasta dishes and decadent chocolate cake. Applebaum says many Country Lane Estates residents also head to the recently redone Red Bridge Shopping Center. Here, patrons can take a seat at Crows Coffee to catch up with friends and enjoy a hand-crafted latte or head to Tanner's Bar & Grill to catch the latest game with their buddies. The center is also home to The Regnier Family Wonderscope Children's Museum of Kansas City, where children immerse themselves in an environment complete with story time and crafts.
Start your morning off right at Crows Coffee with a nice atmosphere and a pick-me-up.
Jasper's has amazing food and a fantastic patio open in the summer months.

St. Joseph Medical Center and the commute to downtown Kansas City
The neighborhood is home to the St. Joseph Medical Center, which U.S. News & World Report designates as being high-performing in multiple areas, including nephrology. Connected to the hospital is the community's Concorde Career College location, where students head to start their healthcare careers. Residents can also work within the community at places like Freightquote, a shipping company with over 1,000 employees. Others work at nearby employers like Honeywell, a Fortune 500 company located just 4.5 miles away via College Boulevard. Downtown Kansas City is not far either; locals are just about 16 miles away via U.S. Highway 71 and Interstate 435. They can take the latter to Kansas City International Airport, which is just 42.5 miles away. While most people here drive, locals can also take advantage of the Kansas City Regional Transit's public transportation routes.
