A neighborhood where community cuts across cultures
In Linden Park, located just off of Interstate 29 at the edge of Kansas City and Platte Woods, people involve themselves in one another’s lives. “People watch out for each other,” says Jess Horsley, an associate pastor at Platte Woods United Methodist Church. “It’s neighborly without being too nosy.” And with a colorful palette of people from many cultures and backgrounds, neighbors often have much to learn from each other. “On my block alone, we have a number of different ethnicities," Horsley said. "We have block parties several times a year. It’s laid back and hospitable."

Park Hill schools are highly rated
Linden Park students attend Thomas B. Chinn Elementary School, which earns a B-plus rating on Niche. A-minus-rated Plaza Middle School is located in the neighborhood. A-rated Park Hill High School ranks 27th out of 511 high schools across the state. Each is in the Park Hill School District, which ranks as the18th best school district out of 451 in Missouri and 20th best in the state for student-athletes. “There are people who move from all over to live in that district, especially for its special needs program,” says Bill Breed, Realtor for Exit Realty Professionals. Horsley’s children attend school in the district, and he couldn’t be more pleased. “The Park Hill School District is exceptional," Horsley says. "There are over 80 native languages spoken at my son’s school."
Chinn Elementary is known to be a wonderful school and the kids are well loved.
Plaza Middle School is a public school with a helpful office staff and competitive teams.
Park Hill High School is a public high school in Kansas City, Missouri.

A 'spectacular' nature center is nearby
Several parks surround Linden Park. Woodsmoke Park, toward the community’s southern edge, is the closest. With a playground and picnic tables, it is well-suited for kids. An even bigger local draw, however, is Parkville Nature Center, a short drive south of here. “The Parkville Nature Sanctuary is spectacular,” Horsley says. “It’s less than five minutes away. There’s a great research center. There are great trails.”
Bring the kids and travel the Butterfly Trail to the Root Cellar at Parkville Nature Sanctuary.

Dozens of choices for shopping and dining
Grocery stores are a close drive away, including a Hy-Vee and Walmart in Tiffany Springs. Zona Rosa shopping mall is 3 miles north of Linden Park along I-29, offering dozens of shopping and dining choices. Asian cuisine is the most predominant in Linden Park itself. Tasty Thai, Big Bowl Pho and Iron Wok Chinese add a diverse set of flavors to this multi-cultural neighborhood.
Tasty Thai has a wide range of choices and locals love the curry and stir-fry dishes.

A bedroom community with popular events in close reach
Primarily a bedroom community, Linden Park is less of a destination for activities than a launch pad. People live in the sanctuary of this quiet space and live their active lives elsewhere. “We go downtown,” Horsley says. “Because of the easy access to the interstate, a lot of people go across to Kansas City, Missouri or Kansas City, Kansas to do things. The highways make it easy to get around." Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City's most popular destination, is 20 miles southeast of the neighborhood -- typically a 30-minute drive.

Just minutes from Kansas City International Airport
Linden Park is a prime location for anyone who works at Kansas City International Airport, or who travels for business. KCI is 9 miles northwest of the neighborhood, which equates to a drive time around 10 minutes. Downtown Kansas City is about 12 miles south of Linden Park. RideKC's 229 bus, which runs from downtown to the airport, crosses through Linden Park on Prairie View Avenue.
Linden Park is less than 20 minutes from Kansas City's downtown entertainment.
