A down-home Katy suburb

In Houston's sea of master-planned communities lies Autumn Run, a Katy subdivision that joined the growing movement of planned developments in 1978. There's the sound of neighbors working on home improvement projects out of their garage, children playing basketball in a nearby cul-de-sac and the smell of diverse meals emanating from homes in the evening. With much of this neighborhood shrouded in oak trees, it is commonplace to see neighbors out and about, pushing strollers with their four-legged friends in tow.

John Redgrave Park and Bear Creek

While there is a man-made lake within the neighborhood's boundary, it is more of a sandpit than a lake, and locals often refer to it as "the pit". Safer park options include John Redgrave Park within the neighborhood, Bear Creek Pioneers Park and Addicks Reservoir 8 miles south and Westgate Community Park and Pool, 2 miles down Barker Cypress Road. Fishing spots can be found along Dinner Creek, which runs on Autumn Run's southern border, and Langham Creek, which cuts through the middle. For indoor recreation, Copperfield Crossing has a bowling alley and amusement park. Closer to home on Barker Cypress Road, Bounce Bounce offers colorful mats to jump on, a foam pit, exercise classes, and endless entertainment and learning opportunities await kids at the nearby Play Street Museum off Northwest Freeway.
