Commuter-friendly Plantation Lakes is zoned for good schools
Location and home prices make Plantation Lakes an appealing spot in the suburban sprawl stretching from Houston to Katy. Nearby highways provide commuters easy routes to work, while home prices are more accessible than in nearby cities. “Residents like the Katy area because it is close to their work, and they like the schools for their kids. For anyone I’ve sold to there, one of the things they always like about the neighborhood is the school district,” says Flor Rodriguez, a Realtor with Lone Star Realty, who has sold homes in the area for 20 years.

Plantation Lakes’ 21st-century homes
Traditional-style 21st-century houses on sidewalk-lined cul-de-sacs sell for $220,000 to $380,000, which is less than in some neighboring communities. Prices can reach up to $700,000 west of Highway 99 and exceed $1 million in Cypress. Standard features in Plantation Lakes include garages and front patios overlooking yards shaded by trees. “The neighborhood is a little newer than the ones surrounding it,” says local Realtor Kim Rensimer, with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty. She’s been selling homes in Houston for 13 years. “They’ve got more of the Hardie plank siding as opposed to the fully brick construction you’ll get across the road.” Plantation Lakes also contains several apartment complexes along Greenhouse and Little York roads. With flooding a known factor in the Houston area, rain can impact water levels in Bear Creek in the southern end of the neighborhood.
Plantation Lakes has several different home styles to choose from.
