Like much of southern Louisiana, Kraemer is at risk for hurricanes and tropical storms, including well-known hurricanes Ida and Katrina. “Anytime you live around there, you know the potential damage that comes with it,” Harris says. “Some of the older people don’t even leave; they just buckle down and try to wait it out.”

It has won multiple state championships and regularly competes in playoffs and district championships for various sports.
