A lively residential community in Lancaster
About 3 miles west of Downtown Lancaster, the suburb of Rohrerstown fosters a strong community spirit. It’s best known as the home of Long’s Park, which hosts one of the county’s most famous art events and a summer concert series. “Central Lancaster is a suburban hub with great school districts and family-friendly activities. It’s great for raising families and has easy access to all that Lancaster has to offer,” says Craig Hartranft, Realtor and team leader with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Homesale Realty, who has decades of experience in the industry. “Overall, the city provides a smaller scale of what many big cities offer while maintaining a community feel.” With lively parks, nearby amenities and landscaped subdivisions, Rohrerstown offers a suburban community where neighbors know each other, and proximity to upscale dining, entertainment and local farm stands in the heart of Amish country.

Festivities in Long’s Park
“There are a lot of events and festivals that happen throughout the various Lancaster communities each year,” Hartranft says; however, the heart and soul of this community resides in Long’s Park. “Some top mentions include Long’s Park Art Festival, which happens on Labor Day weekend.” Hundreds of artists showcase their creations along the tree-lined walkways during the event. Long’s Park also hosts a free summer concert music series every Sunday evening throughout the summer and firework displays for the Fourth of July. “First Fridays are another popular event downtown,” Hartranft says. “And then the end of August through the beginning of October is fair season here in Lancaster. Many of our communities host their own fairs, typically featuring an agricultural aspect, carnival games and local vendors.”
