Suburban neighborhood with ease of access
Three miles from downtown Laredo, Three Points is primarily a residential neighborhood with a few local stores and U.S. Highway 83 heading south. “The city has invested pretty aggressively in public spaces,” says Joe Baeza, an investigator and public information officer for Laredo who has spent most of his adult life in Laredo. “There are a lot of places for growth.” In the northwest corner of Three Points, Hachar Elementary School shares the space with the East Hachar Recreation Center. Scattered throughout is green space, and the Chacon Creek interweaves with the southern border of Three Points. The neighborhood also has easy access, with U.S. Route 83 dividing the neighborhood in two.
The homes in Three Pionts are cosidered to be some of the most affordable for what you get.

Affordable housing east of downtown
Trees are scattered throughout the neighborhood, often covering the backyards of homes, creating shade from the Texas heat. Three Point has a mixture of home styles, with ranch-style being the most common. Prices range from $120,000 to $170,000. Throughout the neighborhood are some New Traditional homes with Spanish Colonial influences that range in price from $160,000 to $275,000. “Housing is pretty affordable,” says Baeza. “And you don’t see a lot of buying the lot cheap to rebuild a home.” Attached garages are a rarity but are often found with newer homes. Carports are more common, but there may only be a small stretch of driveway or stretch of yard located at the front or side of the home for vehicles. If sidewalks are present, they are smaller and flush against the road, occasionally acting as another parking spot for vehicles. There are also some multi-family homes, usually with two or three units, that range in price from $275,000 to $300,000.
Shade trees are important in Lardo to help avoid the direct sunlight in the yard.
Lawns are not very popular in Three Points.

Magnet school focused on STEM
The majority of students will attend Demetrio D. Hachar Elementary for kindergarten through fifth grade, with a smaller section on the western side of the neighborhood attending Daiches Elementary. Both schools feed into Joaquin Cigarroa Middle School for sixth through eighth grade. All three schools receive a C from Niche. The Dr. Leonides G. Cigarroa High School earns a B-minus and offers Advanced Placement classes. It is also home to the Sabas Perez Early College High School. The magnet school is focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) courses, with the opportunity to earn an associate degree or up to 60 hours of college credits.

Recreation center classes and trail leading to the Rio Grande
The neighborhood’s namesake park sits on the western edge and has a covered basketball court for pickup games along with a semi-shaded playground. In the northeastern corner, the East Hachar Recreation Center has after-school programs for children as well as volleyball classes and a weight room for members. The Garcia Vela Little League Field has a small, covered exercise area in addition to the baseball field and stands. The Chacon Creek Hike and Bike Trail weaves along the creek as it mostly follows the border of Three Points. As the southern border curves and mostly follows the Chacon Creek, the Chacon Cree Hike & Bike trail follows the same pattern of dipping in and out of the neighborhood.
The Chacon Creek Bike and Hiking Trail is a nice route some use for commuting.

Local business on the main road
U.S. Route 83 is the main drag within the neighborhood. Local stores, a few restaurants, and three chain restaurants are just off this major road. El Pollo Feliz and San Judas Tadeo, Mexican restaurants, sit along the curve of the road as it turns south. On the southern edge is La Michoacana Meat Market, which first opened in Houston in 1986 and has since spread across Texas and parts of Oklahoma. Selina’s Flower Shop is across from Laredo Furniture, and auto shops dot along Route 83. Grocery store H-E-B is half a mile west along Guadalupe Street. The Outlet Shoppes at Laredo, with over 50 stores, is 3 miles west.
US Route 83 is lined with businesses that draws shoppers from all around.

Multiple buses and ease of transportation
Five bus routes operated by El Metro Transit Center make their way through the neighborhood: Routes 8B, 9, 14, 19 and 20. U.S. Highway 83 divides the neighborhood east and west, with State Highway 359 beginning approximately in the middle before stretching east to smaller towns and census-designated places in the Texas countryside. Interstate 35 is about 2 miles west with the Laredo International Airport about 5 miles north. “The airport is quite expansive with direct flights to Los Angeles, to Mexico,” says Baeza. “If your business is international, this is probably the place to go because of the ease of access to international cities.”
Rodeo and bullriding
At the Laredo Fair Rodeo 5 miles north, residents can sign up for events such as horse riding, team roping and bull riding. At the end of the rodeo is a live concert, usually with local musicians. The Washington Birthday Celebration includes a carnival and a golf tournament at the Laredo Country Club. The celebration lasts the entire month of February.
