South Louisiana community close to the Gulf

Located about 25 miles from Downtown Houma, Larose is a quiet area along the intersection of Bayou Lafourche and the Intracoastal Waterway. The community has a population of about 6,700 and offers a mix of suburban and rural lifestyles. “Larose is a little hometown area,” says Robin Harris, a Realtor with CHT Group Real Estate. “It’s a pretty tight-knit community close to the Gulf and friendly people.” While the lower house prices and highly rated schools attract people, there are environmental concerns that come with living so close to the Gulf of Mexico. Larose is susceptible to flooding and hurricanes, with Hurricane Ida and Hurricane Katrina being some of the most well-known storms that hit the area.
