Urban living near popular parks
Located about 2 miles from downtown, East Side Las Cruces offers proximity to some of the city’s most popular parks and retail areas. “The sun shines more than 350 days a year,” says Ronald Leone, an associate broker with Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Steinborn & Associates who’s lived in the area since 2001. “We take advantage of the good weather. Many of us are walkers, and soccer and Little League are big here.” The Hadley Sports Complex offers the largest concentration of sports fields in the city. The neighborhood is also close to the Mesilla Valley Mall and big-box retailers at Telshor Boulevard and Lohman Avenue. Interstate 25 offers easy access to El Paso.

Ranch-style homes with varying aesthetics
The neighborhood’s ranch-style homes, built from the 1950s to the ‘80s, have a range of styles, including Southwestern homes with flat roofs and stucco exteriors, classic brick single-levels and midcentury modern builds. These are typically surrounded by low stone or brick walls, and yards vary from grassy lawns shaded by trees to low-water landscaping with cacti and decorative rocks. Prices typically range from $160,000 to $250,000, depending on renovations. Two and three-bedroom townhouses built in the 1980s can go for about $180,000 to $230,000, depending on size, and three- and four-unit multifamily properties can cost between $240,000 and $370,000. Manufactured homes here rarely come on the market, and low-rise apartment complexes are available for renters.

New Mexican specialties at Si Señor Restaurant
Lohman Avenue is the neighborhood’s commercial corridor. While most restaurants are fast food or national chains like Texas Roadhouse, there are a few local options. Si Señor Restaurant has served family recipes featuring locally sourced Hatch chiles for over 40 years. At Taqueria Chavez, diners can enjoy tacos in a casual atmosphere. The area where Lohman Avenue meets Telshor Boulevard is one of the most popular shopping areas in the city, where national retailers like The Home Depot and Old Navy neighbor big-box stores like Walmart and Target. The Mesilla Valley Mall offers more shopping, and nearby grocery stores include Sprouts Farmers Market and Albertsons.
