Nestled between Rancho Drive to the east and Interstate 95 to the west, Michael Way is an eclectic neighborhood of subdivisions whose appealing mix of homes gives buyers ample choice when looking for proximity to shopping and dining. Michael Way is also just 15 miles northwest of Harry Reid International Airport, convenient for getaways or business travel.

Built between the 1960s and mid-2000s, dwellings here range from modest condos and town houses to sprawling custom estates. For a monthly fee, residents in homeowner’s associations enjoy amenities like a community clubhouse and tennis courts. Mostly, though, Michael Way is street after street of older single-story homes on modest desert-landscaped lots. When they come on the market, these properties boast appealing updates like remodeled kitchens and covered patios great for hosting friends or enjoying your morning cup of coffee. Larger lots accommodate RV parking, perfect for when the open road beckons. Homebuyers can expect to pay from the low $200,000s for a two-bedroom multi-family home and more than $1 million for a custom home with no HOA and luxuries like a guest house and wine cellar. For $700,000, you can add personal touches to a custom three-bedroom, 3,000-square-foot property on a spacious lot. Bring your horses, your water toys or your car collection, as there’s no HOA in this enclave.

Neighborhood parks give residents of all ages a place to unwind. Wide-open grassy areas invite soccer matches and games of catch, while covered playgrounds are fun even on the hottest days. At Coleman and Heers parks, parents can watch over kids from shaded picnic tables. Head to Wildwood Park for basketball and tennis, but you’ll want to lather up with sunscreen, as there are no trees to block the sun's rays. Coleman Park is also a great place to get in some steps on the concrete jogging and walking path.

Students may attend public or private schools in the area. Elementary standouts Wing and Lilly Fong and JT McWilliams are both highly rated by GreatSchools.org for academic progress. Robert O. Gibson Leadership Academy provides middle school students with a solid foundation in writing and critical thinking that prepares them for college and career readiness. Gibson received the Magnet School of Excellence Award for 2022 in recognition of academic standards, curriculum innovation and parent involvement. Faith-based Liberty Baptist Academy emphasizes leadership for its kindergarten-12th grade students and rounds out academics with competitive volleyball, baseball and basketball teams.

Residents of Michael Way don’t have far to go for shopping and dining. Rainbow and Lake Mead boulevards are one-stops for groceries, service providers and casual eateries. Popular national retailers anchor the 29-store Best in the West Shopping Center. Find the perfect shoes at DSW, then pair them with an outfit from TJ Maxx or Old Navy. Head to Petsmart to find a pooch-approved toy. For groceries, Smith’s and Walmart Neighborhood Market cover most needs on your lists. On weekends, start the morning at no-frills Yourway Breakfast and Lunch, where you can customize made-to-order favorites like omelets and waffles and receive your order in under 15 minutes. Locals say the sausage gravy on sourdough is both filling and addictive, so come hungry. For a taste of Mexico, head to Ajua Si Senor Restaurant for huge portions of authentic favorites like quesadillas and chilaquiles. And when only something sweet will do, Dulce Donuts is open 24 hours for late-night or anytime cravings. The well-stocked case of favorites includes Bavarian cream donuts and bear claws that you can wash down with fresh-squeezed juice. Buy a dozen donuts and you’ll get an additional two for free. For more choices, Interstate 95 gives residents easy and direct access to downtown Las Vegas. Living in Michael Way makes getting around the valley a breeze.
