The first planned community in Clark County
Paradise Palms, Clark County’s first planned community, has been home to the stars. The Las Vegas suburb has attracted entertainers and politicians as residents. Notable early homeowners include the late talk show host Johnny Carson, singer Gladys Knight and actor Donald Sutherland. Nowadays, the neighborhood’s midcentury homes, nearby mall and proximity to the Strip are draws for folks of every profession. “Paradise Palms is the only neighborhood in Vegas with mid-century modern architecture, so it’s got its own little vibe,” says Realtor Jessica O’Brien of New Home Resource. O’Brien has sold homes for nearly a decade and has lived in the city since 2011. “It’s a fun, funky and hip section of town.”

Vegas' only mid-century modern community
The development of Paradise Palms was pioneered in the 1960s by Irwin Molasky, who wanted to create a community within walking distance of his new Boulevard Mall. He hired the architectural firm of Palmer & Krisel to design tract homes in various styles. Molasky’s original homes off Cayuga Parkway debuted in 1960. Common housing styles include mid-century modern and ranch-style homes, often featuring four bedrooms and nearly 2,000 square feet. Housing prices commonly fall between $300,000 and $500,000, but a few homes with additions and renovated kitchens can cost upwards of $600,000. A few homes have been entirely renovated, costing between $750,000 and $900,000. Lot sizes are about a quarter-acre, and many residents have rock gardens and towering palms in their yards. A few condos with two bedrooms cost between $150,000 and $250,000. Most streets in Paradise Palms have sidewalks, so locals often enjoy a walk.
