A convenient location in a convenient area
The Villages may be a sprawling development with attractions and amenities at seemingly every turn, but location is still key within what is the largest 55-and-over community in the world. That’s why home seekers covet neighborhoods like the Village of Bonita, a pocket at the heart of all that attracts people to this area. “It’s its proximity to Lake Sumter Landing Market Square and all the different shopping areas,” local Realtor Sheila Davis says of the Village of Bonita’s appeal. “It’s surrounded by all the shopping you could possibly want.”

These well-kept homes have floor plans that average almost 1,600 square feet, including garages. Most of the neighborhood’s houses sit on manicured lots of up to a fifth of an acre. Price tags in the area tend to fall between $300,000 and $800,000, based on factors like square footage, lot size and views of the golf course. Fun in the sun at every turn
Not only is The Villages the largest retirement community on the globe, it also has the biggest recreation department in the world. The Village of Bonita is woven around the Havana Country Club, which is considered one of the development's best spots, says Charmaine Adams, a Florida native and a local Realtor with Realty Executives in The Villages. The course at Havana features three nine-hole layouts: Hemingway, Kenya and Kilimanjaro. “It is very popular and is always busy,” says Davis, also of Realty Executives in The Village. Davis, who has more than a dozen years of industry experience, says Bonita has its own community recreation area as well, complete with a pool, horseshoe and shuffleboard areas, and a bocce court.
