Close to Lewisville Lake and downtown Lewisville

Valley Ridge sits just a little over a mile from Lewisville Lake and Old Town Lewisville, the downtown hub of the city. Additionally, it’s about 26 miles from Dallas and approximately 37 miles from Fort Worth, ensuring seamless connectivity to neighboring cities. With walking distance to an elementary, middle and high school as well Lewisville Public Library, Valley Ridge sits along Interstate 35E for quick access to the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Built primarily in the 1990s, Valley Ridge also has access to a variety of green spaces, including Lake Park and smaller local parks scattered throughout.

Single family and townhomes west of downtown

Manicured sidewalks and mature trees line the streets, and most homes have fenced-in backyards. Some homes have backyard pools, but for those who don’t have one, within Wayne Frady Park is Old Town Splash Park, open seasonally from May to September. Homes often feature neutral-colored brick facades with arched entry ways and attached two-car garages. New Traditional homes range from $350,000 to $650,000. The streets weave through Valley Ridge, sidewalks covering all the roads and connecting the different sections of the neighborhood. Front of homes are similar, although not exact copies of each other; however, the properties themselves have about the same acreage. Trees are scattered throughout the neighborhood, some homes may have more mature trees, while more recently built properties have smaller trees planted in the front yards. There are some townhomes, but these are not as common. The townhomes often have white brick facades; these homes are usually part of a homeowner’s association and prices typically range from $389,000 to $493,000.

National retailers and nearby local businesses

Walmart Supercenter and Sam’s Club sit along West Main Street. Nearby is Taqueria El Chino and Panaderia 7 Taqueria. In the 407 McGee Village shopping center are a few restaurants, including Nick’s Pizza and Pasta and Rusty Beagle, a sports bar. The Anchor Colombian Bar & Grill serves Latin American meals and has live music on Saturdays. Along Valley Ridge Boulevard is Kohl’s and Lowe’s Home Improvement. Downtown Lewisville has a variety of locally owned businesses, such as Feisty Florals and clothing store The Fig Tree.

Old Town Lewisville year-round events

Lewisville Public Library hosts a variety of classes for all ages, as well as story time that takes place at different parks around the city. “Old Town Lewisville is a highlight,” says Lori Blad, a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty. “They’ve done a good job taking care of the area.” The town hosts a variety of annual events and festivals, including Western Days in September and North Texas Tribute Jam in October.

Lewisville ISD STEM academy

Students can begin at Valley Ridge Elementary School, which receives an A-minus grade from Niche. Valley Ridge Elementary is an LISD STEM Academy. Huffines Middle School earns a B and is within walking distance of most of the neighborhood. Students can attend Lewisville Killough for ninth and 10th grade before moving to the main campus for 11th and 12th grade. First opened in 1897, Lewisville High School earns an A-minus from Niche. The main Lewisville campus is just south of Valley Ridge and the Killough campus sits within Valley Ridge.

Lewisville Lake and LLELA nearby

Lewisville Lake, sometimes referred to as the “Urban Bass Fishing Capital of Texas,” is about a mile away and is home to a variety of water-based activities. Fishing at Lewisville Lake takes place year-round for bass, catfish and crappie. Along the shores of Lewisville Lake, the 622-acre Lake Park stands out for its sports facilities, including a soccer complex, ball fields and a golf course. Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) was first created in the early 1990s. “LLELA is a wildlife preserve, a lot of schools will do field trips there,” says Blad. “Probably most people don’t know it’s there, it’s a quiet government preserve.” There are three public parks within Valley Ridge, including Valley Ridge Greenbelt Park, with access to a 3-mile trail.

Interstate 35E leading further south

Interstate 35E acts as a section of the neighborhoods eastern border, continuing further south into Dallas. North Stemmons Freeway follows parallel to the interstate. Valley Ridge doesn’t have any public transportation, but the Denton County Transit Authority runs the A-Train through sections of Lewisville. Medical City Lewisville is just across I-35E.
