Large lake community with a variety of recreation
Boone Creek East is one of two lake communities on the southeast side of Lexington. This large community is built around Jacobson Park’s 46-acre lake and the even bigger Lexington Reservoir Number 4 — which locals typically call Lake Ellerslie. While Boone Creek East offers its share of upscale living options, it also boasts a greater variety of housing than neighboring Lakeview Estates a few miles north. Boone Creek East also provides a broad range of recreational options. In addition to kayaking and angling for hefty catfish during the summer, residents are also within a convenient distance of the Lakeside Golf Course’s rolling terrain and other activities like disc golf and bike riding along the Squires Road Trail. Robin Jones, a Realtor with Keller Williams Legacy Group, says Boone Creek East is “Right across the street from Jacobson Park. You have easy access to I-75, and you’re probably less than a mile from the new LSC soccer complex, and that’s a big deal.”

A diversity of housing and costs
Boone Creek East consists of several subdivisions with a few different housing styles. “Really, there’s diversity in what you can get here. You can get condos and real estate on larger lots, which is amazing. There’s also a ton of new construction going on in there,” Jones says. Homes here range from mid-20th century ranch-style houses and bi-levels to contemporary Traditionals built within the past decade. The homes also show a wide range of prices. Homes around 2,000 square feet or less can go from about $200,000 to $330,000, while larger ones can run anywhere between $500,000 and $900,000. The Ellerslie at Delong, one of the signature communities here, has a few homes that cross the $1 million mark.

El Charro, which has three locations in Lexington, is a favorite for margaritas and various Tex-Mex dishes. While Ramsey’s Diner, another Lexington chain, brands itself as a Kentucky tradition. The restaurant purchases most of its ingredients from area farmers and has long been known for its downhome cooking. Josanne’s Homestyle Kitchen serves soul food favorites like fried catfish, and chicken and waffles. For upscale comfort meals, many enjoy Carson’s Food & Drink, a restaurant featuring numerous chandeliers and one of the longest bars in the city. Patrons seated near the windows can also enjoy views of the old Andover golf course. Boone Creek East is also just a few miles from the Hamburg Pavilion, a regional shopping destination with various big-box stores and chain brands. “It’s just to the north. That’s the convenience of this side of town,” says Bob Sophiea, lead agent of the New Home Collective with eXp Realty. The community is also within minutes from several Kroger stores.

From angling for bass and kayaking to golf rounds and freestyle BMX biking
This community has access to a myriad of outdoor activities. Anglers can go to Jacobson Park Lake, which is stocked throughout the year with trout, channel catfish, bass and bluegill. While those who enjoy water activities may also rent pedal boats or kayaks from the marina; and dog owners can let their pets roam free at Jacobson’s 8-acre dog park. Children here enjoy running across the spray ground during the summer, while groups often hit the courts for friendly basketball and volleyball games. Fans of disc golf also have a course here. The public Lakeside Golf Course is another favorite among local golfers and features an 18-hole course stretching across 185 acres. The course also provides a practice space for players looking to work on their putting and swing techniques. Skateboarders and freestyle BMX bikers can try out the ramps at the Berry Hill Skatepark.
