Students attend Fayette County Public Schools
Residents of Tates Creek may attend the Fayette County Public School system. As a part of that district, students may start at Tates Creek Elementary School before moving on to Tates Creek Middle School, both of which earned a B grade from Niche. Tates Creek Middle was the first middle school in Kentucky to be approved for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. This program aims to prepare students for the real world, developing their critical thinking skills. In ninth grade, students move on to Tates Creek High School, which received a B-minus grade from Niche. Tates Creek High is part of the Academies of Lexington program. In this program, students are placed into smaller groups with peers who have similar interests. Whether that is design and engineering, informational technology, or medical and emergency services, students can get hands-on experience in a potential future career field. As for private school options, Trinity Christian Academy is nearby, serves Pre-K through 12th grade and earned an A grade from Niche. Residents don’t have to go far for college; the University of Kentucky is just a 4-mile drive from the neighborhood.

From Gainesway Park to Tates Creek Golf Course
For some time outdoors, residents can check out Gainesway Park. Parkgoers can fish in its pond for bass fish. For dining out, residents can drive to the Merrick Inn, which is notable for its southern cuisine. “Merrick Inn is my favorite,” Hinchman says. “They have been there forever. They have a great outdoor patio. I like the grouper fingers and their calamari. Everything they have is good.” The Cellar Bar & Grille has a laid-back feel. Customers enjoy their selection of bourbon and beer. The Cellar Burger has cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. The Parmesan Chicken Bowtie is blacked chicken breast with bowtie pasta and Alfredo sauce and sun-dried tomatoes. The Mousetrap has been a staple of the community since 1976. The shop is known for its pimento cheese and custom-made gift baskets. Customers can also make sandwiches or order one of their entrees, like the Lasagna Bolognese. For groceries, residents can visit Kroger on Chinoe Road. Residents looking for a weekend afternoon of shopping can head over to Fayette Mall, which includes stores like Old Navy, Dicks Sporting Goods and Macy’s.
Lextran bus system to get around town
Residents looking to commute into the heart of Lexington for work are looking at a 5-mile drive. Residents can also take advantage of the Lextran bus system, which has a stop on the other side of Alumni Drive on Yellowstone Parkway. Those looking to go on vacation can head to Blue Grass Airport, which is 10 miles west of the neighborhood. For medical attention, Baptist Health Lexington is 4 miles away.
