About Little Canada, MN

About Little Canada, MN

A small town with big traditions

Anyone stepping foot into Little Canada will immediately take notice of its Great White North roots, evident through its red & white flags and Maple leaf imagery scattered around the town. The town's pride is most prevalent during Canadian Days, an annual festival celebrating its heritage. Though part of one of the most populous counties, Ramsey County, City Clerk Heidi says Little Canada still maintains its small-town charm: "It has a small-town attitude, even though we're 8 miles from downtown Saint Paul." Homes here range between $300,000 and $700,000, while condos start at $70,000 and go up to $180,000. With its proximity to Sant Paul and major highways, commuting in and out of Little Canada isn't a problem for residents.

Celebrate Canadian Days

Since 1977, Little Canada has held Canadian Days, a festival celebrating its roots in the first week of August. Known as the #bestweekendofthesummer, the festival is run by an all-volunteer, non-profit team and is attended by people from far and wide. Locals celebrate with a 5k race, live music, food vendors and more. Heller says: "You ask people from cities a few over, and they'll say, 'Oh yeah, we go to Canadian Days.'" Residents located as far as Thunder Bay, Ontario, are even known to travel south for the festivities.

Dining for everyone

Hoggsbreath has been a local favorite for nearly 50 years. The restaurant regularly hosts billiards, dart leagues and pool games. For some fine dining, Porterhouse Steaks & Seahouse is an option, offering an expansive cocktail & wine menu and quality cuts such as filet mignon. Those with a sweet tooth can go to Donut Hut, which serves classic apple cakes, donuts, bear claws, and other fresh pastries daily. Residents can head to ALDI, located south of the community, for groceries.
