A Little Rock neighborhood near hubs of activity
Like the eye of a hurricane, the Little Rock neighborhood of Briarwood is a place of calm in the middle of activity. The community is filled with residential housing occupied primarily by families. Neighboring communities are hubs of entertainment, and Briarwood has access to them all, but Briarwood itself stays serene. “It's sort of tucked away,” says Mike Noland, a Realtor with PorchLight Realty. “You can feel like, ‘I’m in a cute little suburban neighborhood,’ then you can hop on the freeway and get wherever you need. It’s near everything.” The neighborhood is particularly close to shopping on West Markham Street and entertainment options off Fair Park Boulevard.
Midcentury ranch-style brick homes
Homes in the neighborhood are largely midcentury ranch-style houses with brick siding. Two-story homes are also common. Many homes have carports and wide driveways. Homes usually range from $125,000 to $350,000. The community’s main roads have sidewalks and allow for walking to parks and shopping centers. Tall oak trees line the neighborhood’s main roads while smaller trees sit in cul-de-sacs. The neighborhood has a CAP Index Crime Score of 8 out of 10, higher than the national average of 4. This overall score is largely caused by high scores in nonviolent crime.
Many homes in Briarwood have been updated and well maintained.

The Little Rock Zoo showcases Penguin Pointe
While the residential community does not have many green spaces within its borders, several parks are within a few miles drive. That includes the Little Rock Zoo, which is off Fair Park Boulevard and looks after more than 700 animals across its 33 acres. Twice-daily feedings in the zoo’s Penguin Pointe exhibit are a highlight. Boyle Park encourages fishing in its waters and has bike trails for cyclists, plus a playground. Kanis Park can hold pickleball tournaments across its six courts and has a skate park. The Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center sees more than 200,000 people use its amenities each year, including indoor lap pools.
Park Avenue Shopping Center is a retail destination
Briarwood is home to the Park Avenue Shopping Center, which holds retail stores like Target and well-known chain restaurants like Panera Bread and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. Across the neighborhood’s northern border of West Markham Street is Park Plaza, which has department stores like Dillard’s and other specialty stores. These two shopping centers take care of most retail needs, and a Kroger on the west side of the neighborhood provides groceries. While all of the restaurants in the community are national chains, restaurants with more local flavor sit along Cantrell Road just north of the neighborhood. One such location, All Aboard Restaurant and Grill, delivers its burgers and sandwiches to tables via toy trains.
The Target in Briarwood has all of the wares your home could need.
Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen stays true to their name, making famous, from-scratch recipes.
