Forested suburbia near the city
Buyers set their sights on Pecan Lake because it offers the tranquility of outer city living without taking away city conveniences. “Proximity is the best word I can use to describe this area,” says Walter Rognrud, owner of the neighborhood’s event venue, The Castle on Stagecoach. “You’re close to the interstate and minutes from just about anywhere you want to go, including the airport.” Homeowners can settle into forested suburbia yet reliably travel to and from it without hitting congestion on the road or feeling totally cut off from civilization.
Pecan Lake is a short commute to Downtown Little Rock.

All highways lead to downtown
Commuters have convenient access to Interstate 430, which runs along the area’s western border and connects to I-630 to the north. “It’s right by the 70-30, too, which connects to the city center,” real estate agent Amanda Hugo of Century 21 Smith & Associates Realty says, referring to Highway 70 East, which runs through the neighborhood, and I-30 about 4 miles south. Using any of these thoroughfares leads workers to Downtown Little Rock in just under 12 miles. Traveling by car is a local’s best bet, as the closest bus stops are around 2 to 4 miles away. For long-distance travel, residents drive 16 miles east to Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport.
The Pecan Lake neighborhood has a rural vibe though easily connected to Little Rock.

On the other side of Interstate 430, Little Rock Climbing Center lets climbers and boulderers scale over 5,000 square feet of rock walls. Four miles to the south is Big Rock Mini Golf & Fun Park, where visitors can enjoy everything from go-karts and mini golf to arcade games and mazes. The neighborhood’s eastern end is where outdoor recreation makes its mark. Brodie Creek Park is a small neighborhood hangout with a playground and a 1/2-mile walking track. Hindman Park, farther east, offers 210 wooded acres with similar amenities, including multiple sports courts and a 9-hole disc golf course. Groups can enjoy a pickup game on the basketball court or an afternoon picnic at one of the pavilions. The park also features a small lake and various creeks where visitors can be seen fishing.

Digging into country fried steak and catching a flick
When locals need essentials, Pecan Lake is only 2 miles from Shackleford Crossing, which houses a Walmart Supercenter that provides groceries and everyday items. If people feel peckish, they can grab a bite to eat at familiar chains like Cracker Barrel and Texas Roadhouse or head to Main Event Little Rock if they want their meal to come with a side of arcade fun. For dinner and a show, locals can catch the latest flicks at Cinemark Colonel Glenn on the other side of I-430 or head 4 miles south to Movie Tavern Little Rock at The Outlets of Little Rock. There, visitors can also get a bit of shopping at over 50 brand-name stores. Housing market has high potential
Most homes in Pecan Lake are brick ranches and split-level properties, often with two-car garages and spacious front porches. Lush green lawns are carefully landscaped and shaded by towering trees. Lots range from 8,000 square feet to well over 1 acre, and homes can date back as far as the 1950s to modern day. Homes are divided into tidy subdivisions separated by heavily forested land and typically cost between $160,000 and $280,000. “People nowadays can’t get a [move-in ready] house for 150,000 and below, but most are still aiming for below 200,000. So, these prices show me it’s a high potential area,” Hugo shares.
