Green community in West Little Rock
Fifteen thousand trees are planted annually in Woodlands Edge, a West Little Rock neighborhood set 10 miles from downtown. Woodlands Edge takes pride in its sustainability, as 40 percent of the forest has been preserved during the neighborhood's low-impact construction. Located in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, ridges and streams characterize the community, where well-established homes are hidden away from busy commercial corridors. Despite this, locals experience nature, recreation and convenience as shopping centers are located within a quick drive away. During their free time, residents can be found at the community recreation center or attending neighborhood events. "Woodlands Edge is a collection of subdivisions that run along Brody Creek. It has lots of roundabouts and quiet roads," says Christy Robinson, a real estate agent with Keller Williams Realty LR Branch and lifetime resident. "I love it because there are a ridiculous number of trees, and they are committed to preserving their greenspaces."

Enveloped by trees in Woodlands Edge
Woodlands Edge comprises nine subdivisions cocooned by 780 acres of hickory and pine trees. The community's hilly, narrow, winding roads lead to landscaped roundabouts adorned with flora and fauna. Most homes were built after 2005, and there has been an influx of newer, semi-custom-built developments constructed in 2023 and 2024. Contemporary and French Eclectic-inspired Craftsman and New Traditional residences are cushioned by sidewalks and complemented by long driveways and double-car garages. These properties are constructed with brick and stone and typically start at 2,000 square feet and reach over 4,000 square feet. Prices can range from $280,000 for a modest three-bedroom needing updates to $1.1 million for a move-in ready four-bedroom.

Catch-and-release fishing at Wilson Lake
The Woodlands Edge Community Center is tucked away in the heart of the neighborhood on Woodlands Trail. The center offers a pool, clubhouse picnic shelters and a playground for kids to play in a place not too far from home. Behind this community hub is the 3.5-acre Wilson Lake, ready for catch-and-release angling and surrounded by 6 miles of trails connected to a dense, native forest. "It's very pretty because they didn't chop all the trees down when making it," says Robinson. Just 9 miles south is Carter's Off-Road Park, where Little Rock natives get dirty riding through the mud on over 4,000 obstacle courses.

Just 4 miles North, Promenade at Chenal is an open-air shopping district known for its French Gothic architecture. This walkable retail corridor is home to a mix of upscale boutiques and familiar brands, a movie theater and patio-side dining. "There is an Aldi opening up there pretty soon. We also have Park Plaza Mall, which isn't too far away. The Outlets at Little Rock will be a bit longer of a drive," Robinson says. Closer to the neighborhood, Milford Track is a popular spot for American breakfast and lunch with lake views.
