Independence Park borders Whispering Pines; its 17 acres contain athletic fields, a playground and a barbecue area. “Independence Park is a huge draw for local youth sports year-round,” says David Weisgerber, community outreach supervisor at Livermore Area Recreation & Park District (LARPD). “It has flag football every weekend, and Livermore has great bike and multiuse paths throughout the city.” Trails extend south of Independence Park to the larger, 847-acre Sycamore Grove Park, an open space with biking, walking and hiking pathways. Members of The Club at Livermore can access tennis courts and outdoor pools, while members of the Club at Ruby Hill can use the country club’s golf course.

The bagels at Bubbs’ Bagels and Coffee – including gluten free options – are made fresh daily. AJ’s Family Cyclery sells and repairs bikes, while Board & Brush Creative Studio provides the space and tools for groups to create decorative woodworking projects. Notably, “Livermore has probably around 40 to 50 wineries,” Weisgerber says. “A bunch of them are good, like Cuda Ridge, Concannon and Wente, which is the oldest.” Cuda Ridge is the closest option to the neighborhood.
