Suburban Neighborhood in New Jersey

Between the small beach town of Allenhurst and the cultural hub of Asbury Park sits the close-knit, desirable village of Loch Arbour. What this community lacks in size is made up for by its wealth of large family homes and beachside condominiums, its local restaurants, and its immediate access to the Jersey Shore, contributing to the great demand for housing in this seaside locale.
Loch Arbour, named for a region of the Scottish Highlands, is a recent creation, splitting off from Ocean Township with the last of that community’s beachfront in 1957. Loch Arbour’s origins lay in the boom of Jersey Shore condominiums after World War II, when the region became a popular summer resort for New York and Philadelphia residents. While less than .13 square miles in size, Loch Arbour has a mixed feeling to it. Realtor Jenna Cavadas of eXp Realty says that, “It’s a great little town, and it offers the best of all worlds. It’s close to the water, so you’ll see higher prices in that area. You’ll have a suburban feel, and there is a park in the area.” With the Interlaken Aboretum at one end and Loch Arbour Beach at the other, Loch Arbour combines the feel of a typical Jersey Shore town with that of an upmarket suburb. Its homes vary from vast condominiums to spacious colonial-style family homes of both the Dutch and Anglo-American varieties. These homes vary in price from $2 to $4 million, reflecting the desirability of these shorefront properties.
Among Loch Arbour’s most popular features is its beach, which offers the quiet serenity of beachside breezes for inexpensive day passes. While relaxing here or pacing the surf, it can be hard to believe that the hustle and bustle of Asbury Park’s boardwalk is just around the corner, and it is easy to enjoy a summer afternoon here with the help of a snack stand serving French fries, lemonade, and other beach favorites.
For a full meal, residents can check out waterfront restaurants such as the Paralia Kitchen, which serves a variety of dishes from pizza to Greek food on the beach, and Deal Lake Bar + Co., a sports bar on Deal Lake with a selection of comfort foods such as macaroni and burgers. The culinary scene of Asbury Park is also waiting just down Main Street and Ocean Avenue for those who wish to explore some of the Jersey Shore’s very best restaurants and bars.
Loch Arbour’s students share a school district with Ocean Township, attending Betty McElmon Elementary School, the Frank Antonides School for middle school, and Shore Regional High School, where Loch Arbour students mix and mingle with peers from neighboring beach towns. Shore Regional has consistently ranked among the top hundred schools in the state and the top 1,000 schools across the country, giving students an excellent educational experience.
Loch Arbour is an hour and a half’s drive from New York City, and many residents opt to take the Seastreak ferry into New York from Highlands, just a half-hour north from Loch Arbour.
With shoreside palaces galore and proximity to both commuting options and to the Jersey Shore’s cultural hub of Asbury Park, Loch Arbour offers residents a top-class shore living experience.
