Picturesque homes and Long Beach history
Often admired for its well-preserved early 20th-century homes, Los Cerritos exudes an atmosphere of quiet suburbia, combined with the conveniences of city living. Home to Virginia Country Club and the Historic Rancho Los Cerritos, the neighborhood offers a glimpse into the city’s affluent past, with wide streets and large, elegant homes that hint at the area’s architectural heritage. “It’s definitely one of the most striking neighborhoods in Long Beach,” says Realtor Michael Robinson of Broadmoor Realty. “The homes throughout the neighborhood are nice, especially on the north side. There are some real stunners up there.”
If you drive around Los Cerritos you may even recognize a home from the Ferris Bueler movie.

Beautiful homes
From a rare 19th-century Monterrey adobe structure to the house made famous in the film "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off," the neighborhood is home to a range of housing styles. This architectural diversity is especially noticeable on Country Club Drive, which features Tudor-style homes alongside an array of Colonial Revival-style homes, including the Ferris Bueller House. While the shutters are a different color, the house still looks like it did when the movie was filmed in the mid-1980s. The terra cotta roofs of Spanish-style homes also are a common sight, while Craftsman, Prairie and Cape Cod are among the many distinct styles represented throughout the neighborhood. Midcentury designs include traditional ranch-style homes. Most homes sell for $1 million to $2 million, though larger properties in the Virginia Country Club Estates enclave often list for $3 to $4 million.
