Huntington Station is more than a transit hub
Huntington Station is a hamlet in the Town of Huntington that takes its name from its Long Island Rail Road station. But it’s more than a transit hub: the area boasts quick access to beaches and parks, relatively affordable housing stock and highly rated schools. “One of the reasons people like living in this neighborhood is because the public and private schools are very good,” says Robert Bianco, the office manager at Island Advantage Realty in Suffolk and Nassau counties. Huntington Station is also the birthplace of poet Walt Whitman and home to the Walt Whitman Shops—one of the largest malls in the area.

One of LIRR’s busiest stations
In 2023, the New York Governor announced millions of dollars in grant money to revitalize the area surrounding the Long Island Rail Road’s Huntington Station, making New York Avenue a safe, walkable and affordable commercial hub. The village’s LIRR station is already one of the busiest on Long Island, with the ride to Midtown taking just over an hour. The drive, mainly on I-495 or the Long Island Expressway, takes closer to two hours during the busiest times of the day.
Huntington Station has a convenient train station which is just over an hour to the city.
The Long Island Expressway is an alternate way to commute to the Big Apple.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Huntington Station is a great place to live. It is convenient to Huntington Village which is more or less the cultural center of Huntington. It is also located right near the train station which gives us easy access to New York City. Huntington Station has quiet residential areas yet is close to busy locations such as the mall and major highways. Overall, Huntington Station is a great place to live.

It's a very quiet town with not many attractions or things to do. I personally enjoy a more vibrant, lively atmosphere so I was not pleased during the time I lived there. It is very safe and has great public schools however.
