Leafy Long Island suburb with ample shopping
Located in central Long Island, Nesconset is a mostly residential hamlet within the town of Smithtown. Mid- to large-scale homes sit on sizable half-acre lots with old-growth trees and manicured lawns. Top-rated public schools and proximity to reliable commuter transportation are other important draws. “Homebuyers like Nesconset because it’s close to the Smith Haven Mall and has big box shopping along Middle Country Road, New York State Route 347 and Smithtown Boulevard,” says Alex Goldenberg, a broker with Howard Hanna Coack Realtors and resident of nearby Setauket. There’s a good balance between quiet tree-lined residential streets and major commercial thoroughfares.

Brookfield colonials are also common in the neighborhood and fetch a similar price. Larger colonial revivals and Center Hall colonials sell for $700,000 to $1.2 million. New-built European Farmhouse-style homes come in at the top of that range. There are also attached townhomes in full-service gated communities like Windcrest and Country Pointe. These properties sell for $600,000 to $750,000.

Tackan Elementary School has an overall A rating from Niche and a favorable 13 to 1 student-teacher ratio. Very nice teachers. Lovely tree lined streets. Lots of supremist racists here. If you are looking for an inclusive, ethnically diverse community, stay away from here.
