Centrally located Lubbock community
Originally established in 1928, the Maxey Park neighborhood was born out of a donation by prominent Lubbock entrepreneur James Maxey. The 100-acre park and adjoining neighborhood bearing his name sits east of downtown Lubbock, right on the border of Texas Tech University and in the medical district home to some of Lubbock’s finest hospitals. “It’s kind of like the heart of Lubbock and it’s very centrally located,” says Jennifer Roberts-Busbea, broker and owner of Halley Road Real Estate. The medical district anchored by Covenant Health System with a children’s hospital and a women’s health center, along with Texas Tech University are two cornerstones of Lubbock’s economy.

The park is home to the Maxey Community Center which has a fitness center and hosts classes year round and serves as a venue for local artists and performers. Hinojosa Park sits on the north end of the neighborhood and is a passive abode with walking paths and picnic shelters. Just north of the neighborhood Texas Tech’s recreation facilities are right there. The John Walker Soccer Complex has been home to the Red Raiders women’s soccer team since 2008 square feet where it hosts NCAA Big 12 competition.
