Suburban community along the Seneca River
Bordered by the Seneca River, the small community of Belgium offers a suburban corner wedged between Baldwinsville and Clay in central New York. The Seneca River attracts outdoor enthusiasts and nearby industries to the area, which has created a strong economy over the years – in turn, drawing residents to settle in the nearby neighborhoods. "The many rivers and lakes are attractive for transportation and manufacturing industries," says Robert Weichert, Senior Managing Partner at Weichert Properties, who has also served the Syracuse region for over 75 years. "The beer industry is significant in this region, and a large Anheuser-Busch Budweiser plant is operating here." Belgium’s convenient location along the river between the two towns offers proximity to the small-town eateries, big box retailers and the river’s abundant recreation.
Recreation where three rivers meet
Three Rivers Point Park lies at the convergence of the Seneca, Oneida and Oswego Rivers. Just north of Belgium, the park offers a riverside respite with plenty of recreational opportunities, such as kayaking and fishing onshore or by boat. The park is also a destination for community events, especially the summer Car Cruz-In. Folks drive their classic cars from all over the area every Wednesday in the summer to gather for a day of live music, raffles and food trucks.
Closer to home, Kimbrook Park offers a slice of greenery amid the neighborhood’s residential streets, and residents can head to Hickory Hill Mini Golf Course for a day of fun. Those who prefer the real deal enjoy the golfing greens at Timber Banks Golf Club, less than 2 miles south. The championship course is the only club designed by Jack Nicklaus in upstate New York.
Boating on one of the three rivers in Belgium is a popular summertime activity.
Playing putt-putt at Hickory Hill Golf in Belgium is a good way to spend the summer evenings.

Shopping in Clay, dining in Baldwinsville
Belgium’s convenient location between Clay and Baldwinsville allows residents to access shopping and dining options within both towns. "There are a couple of nearby malls, grocery stores and many chain restaurants," Weichert says. The shopping plaza off Highway 31 in Clay has familiar national retail names like Target, Kohl’s and HomeGoods. Walmart, Aldi and Wegmans keep fridges and pantries stocked with produce and other necessities. About 3 miles in the other direction of Belgium, Baldwinsville maintains an active downtown scene. Its historic buildings along Genessee Street now house locally owned stores and an eclectic array of eateries, each adding unique character to the village center district. Favorites for food and atmosphere include the 1950s vibes of B’Ville Diner and the sweeping Seneca River views from Canal Side Café & Bistro.
Big-box stores such as Walmart offer Belgium residents a one-stop shop for all needs.
Residents of Belgium looking for morning breakfast may choose to go to The Cottage restaurant.

Split-level and colonial-inspired homes
The established mix of colonial-inspired and split-level homes that line Belgium’s looped streets create a suburban feel. Constructed between the 1970s and 1990s, many houses sit on spacious lots and have two-car garages with driveways. Colonial influences are prominent, reflected by the colorful window shutters and symmetrical features of the classic two-story and raised ranch homes. Single-family home prices typically range between $150,000 and $350,000, though waterfront properties may fetch up to $755,000. Townhouse communities include the Copperstone Woods and Boatwatch developments, where homes list from $173,000 to $193,000.

The B-plus-rated institution offers Career and Technical Education programs to prepare students for life after graduation.
