Private amenities and suburban feel in an HOA community
Separated from Syracuse by a 15-mile drive, the private neighborhood of Radisson in Central New York has a refined atmosphere with new traditional homes and attractive amenities such as well-kept parks, walking paths and athletic fields. Realtor Robert Joeckel of Hunt Real Estate says the Radisson HOA is an appealing selling point for residents. “People like the planned community aspect,” he says, adding that the HOA and Radisson Community Association both cultivate a resident-oriented neighborhood through their efforts and programs. “It’s a great community for all kinds of people,” says Joeckel, a Radisson resident of over 20 years. “We have everything from townhomes to an assisted living center – all we need is a cemetery, and we’ve got you from birth to the end.”
New Traditional and colonial homes in a suburban setting
With the area growing over time since the early 1970s, most homes in the area were built between then and the 2000s on suburban streets ending in cul-de-sacs. Joeckel says the neighborhood’s architectural styles are split depending on which part they are in. The older section features more contemporary, colonial and ranch styles built between the 1970s and 1990s, while the newer section features larger transitional colonial homes mostly erected after 2000, many of which reflect Tudor or New Traditional influences. Older colonials and smaller ranch styles start at $200,000, while more recent builds can fetch up to $750,000. Condos and townhouses are also available in the community, ranging in price from $160,000 to $310,000. HOA fees also apply.
Joeckel says residents take pride in their curb appeal and foster a maintained community feel. “People take care of their property, and homes retain their value,” he says. “The general areas are always well-kept, and it’s a safe place for kids.” The neighborhood receives a CAP Index Crime Score of 2 out of 10, which is lower than the national average of 4.
Single-family homes may range between $200,000 and $750,000 in Radisson.

The neighborhood boasts a network of paved interconnected walking paths that weave through the open green spaces, scenic ponds and dense patches of trees, linking to Radisson’s handful of community parks. Kerri Hornaday Park is one of the larger parks frequented by residents for its playground, basketball courts and tennis courts, while Drake’s Landing Park offers similar amenities to the neighborhood’s north. Avid golfers practice their swing at Radisson Greens, an 18-hole golf course with a practice fairway and an onsite restaurant called Potter’s Pub. The Timber Banks golf club, as well as Hickory Hill mini golf, are just minutes from the neighborhood. Boating enthusiasts can enjoy easy access to the Oswego, Seneca and Oneida Rivers with the boat and kayak launch at Radisson River Park. “You can kayak right on the Seneca from the park and store your boat there,” Joeckel says. Youth and adult recreational programs are offered at the Northwest Family YMCA and Three Rivers Athletic Complex in Baldwinsville.

During the second weekend of August, the annual Founders Day celebration takes place at Kerri Hornaday Park, attracting neighbors for a day of food, drinks and activities for the whole family. “Anheuser Busch brewery is only 2 miles from here, and they sponsor a tent with free beer,” Joeckel says. “One of the local trucking companies sponsors wine and free hot dogs.” Apart from other food and sweet treats, the fest also includes face painting and bounce houses for kids, two bands that perform throughout the day and fireworks to cap off the festivities.
