A residential golf course community

On the outskirts of the Village of Baldwinsville, a riverside village brimming with local eateries and events, Village Green is a residential golf course community. Homebuyers can choose from townhouses, condominiums and single-family homes surrounding Foxfire Golf Course, an 18-hole course with a driving range. "Some people are really drawn to living in a golf course community, but for others, it's surprisingly not the biggest factor," says Anne Marie Doyle, a licensed real estate salesperson with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, who calls Village Green home. "Affordability and proximity to the highways and the Village are really the draw to the area."

Condos, townhouses and single-family homes

1970s midcentury modern condominiums and townhouses border Foxfire Gold Course. One-bedroom condos start in the low $100,000s, while three-bedroom patio-style dwellings with attached garages can sell into the mid $200,000s. Townhouses are priced from the mid $100,000s to the mid $200,000s. Some streets feature bi-level and ranch-style homes that range from the low $200,000s to the high $200,000s. Other roads give way to newer split-level, Colonial Revival and New Traditional properties with vinyl siding ranging from the $300,000s to the $500,000s. Although there are no sidewalks, quiet streets lead to the local elementary school and St Augustine's Catholic Church. "Depending on where you are in the neighborhood, you could walk to school or church," Doyle says. Residents should also be prepared for heavy snowfall as the Syracuse metro area averages around 128 inches of snow annually.

Baldwinsville's shops and eateries

Some residents are within walking distance of Pasta's on the Green, a family-owned restaurant at Foxfire Golf Course. However, most residents head about 3 miles to the Village of Baldwinsville. "The village has many great restaurants, bars, boutiques and more," Doyle says. Angry Garlic is a crowd favorite for classic American eats infused with smoked, sautéed or roasted garlic. A couple of blocks away, B'Ville Diner serves up American fare seven days a week. Its 1950s retro interior showcases black and white tiled floors with bright red accents, offering a dose of nostalgia. What makes the village unique is its plethora of waterfront dining. The Suds Factory River Grill is known for its riverfront views, but Angry Smokehouse's Southern barbecue attracts larger crowds just down the street. Big M Supermarket is the nearest grocery store, about 2 miles away. Additional grocery stores like Aldi and Tops Friendly Markets are less than 4 miles away in the Village of Baldwinsville. Big box stores like Target and The Home Depot are about 8 miles from Village Green via New York State Route 8.

Cold plunge for a cause

"We have a neighborhood garage sale once a year, but otherwise, most people head to Baldwinsville for events," Doyle says. Throughout the year, events include Halloween festivals, Christmas parades and Margaritafest, a summertime crowd favorite. "You get a passport that serves as your ticket for drinks and food at the local bars and restaurants," Doyle says. Proceeds from Margaritafest help fund the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center, a local social services organization. B'ville Big Chill, celebrating its 17th year in 2024, is another charity event hosted by the Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club each January that has raised over $300,000 since its inception. Teams swim in the icy water of the Seneca River, competing for a donation to their favorite nonprofit in the area. The event ends with a Poker Bear Express pub crawl, with participants traveling to various village bars to build the best poker hand.

Golfing, boating and fishing in Village Green

Foxfire Golf Course sprawls across the western part of the neighborhood. "You can spit on the course from the townhouses and condos," says Bernard Brzostek, owner and auctioneer at Brzostek's Real Estate Auction Co., Inc., and lifetime resident of Central New York. This public 18-hole golf course also boasts a driving range and clubhouse with a restaurant. "Apart from the golf course, we don't really have any parks in the neighborhood," Doyle says. "You're close to multiple parks if you drive, but it's still an active neighborhood. There are always people walking or biking around." Less than 2 miles away, Baldwinsville Community Park features multiple softball fields, a playground, picnic areas, nature trails and a boat launch along the Seneca River banks. "There's always a lot of kayakers, boaters and anglers on the river, especially in the village," Doyle says. Van Buren Central Park is another green space about 3 miles from Village Green. Amenities include an 18-hole disc golf course, basketball and tennis courts, and an outdoor community pool open from June to August. Fishing is allowed in the small pond from April to November, but catch-and-release methods are encouraged. There's also a popular sledding hill for kids in the winter.

Commuters via Interstate 690

Village Green is a car-dependent community. However, numerous Centro bus stops are scattered along Village Boulevard and Idlewood Boulevard. Interstate 690 runs along the neighborhood's edge, but is separated from the residential area by the golf course. The street eventually connects to Interstates 81 and 90. "It's easy to get east, west, north and south," Brzostek says. St. Joseph's Health Hospital is about 11 miles away. Syracuse Hancock International Airport is about 15 miles away via Interstate 90 and offers nonstop flights to 28 US destinations and connections to international locations.

Micron Technology bringing in new jobs

Micron Technology is constructing a computer chip plant complex in Syracuse, 10 miles outside Village Green. The plant's construction is estimated to cost up to $100 billion, making it the largest single private investment in New York's history. "It's the biggest thing since the Erie Canal," Brzostek says. This project is estimated to bring around 55,000 jobs to Central New York.
