Suburban living in Straw-Smyth near Manchester Medical Center
Straw-Smyth is a primarily residential neighborhood in the heart of Manchester. Adjacent to Manchester’s North End, the neighborhood has well-kept suburban-style homes on closely packed thoroughfares right around the corner from the city’s commercial area. “Homes-wise, you’ll see a mixture of single and multifamily properties divided between renters and owners,” says Cody Barna, a real estate agent with eXp Realty who has lived in Manchester for most of his life. “Multi-family homes are relatively close to single-family homes here. There’s a variety, and as far as location goes, it’s very convenient.” The recently built Manchester Medical Center is a significant employer within the neighborhood. “A lot of medical centers scattered across Manchester; they built that in the last few years. It’s new,” says Kyle Waszeciak, a Realtor with Realty One Group Next Level. Residents enjoy the convenience of local employers and amenities, such as a ski lodge and an observatory. The easy access to locations in Manchester also allows for short commute times.
Single- and multi-family homes
Many homes here are tall and deep, leaving a small space around the perimeter for a patch of lawn and trees. Most are set back from the street and have paths leading to wide sidewalks lined with curb gardens. Split-level, minimal traditional, Colonial Revival, Foursquare, and saltbox styles are common. Single-family homes range from $335,000 to $650,000. Multifamily homes range from $475,000 to $730,000. Townhouses and condos are near Interstate 93, which borders the neighborhood and range from $230,000 to $365,000.
