Hudson Yards, situated between Hell’s Kitchen and Chelsea, on Manhattan’s west side is known for its towering glass skyscrapers, fine dining and high-end shopping. The 28-acre Hudson Yards development, built over an active railyard, broke ground in 2012, giving space to corporate office towers, a seven-story mall, and new high-rise condo buildings, initiated with the 88-story residential tower at 15 Hudson Yards. “It’s like the trendy part of midtown, with more of a residential component, a little bit of a secluded section of the city,” says Jessica Levine a native New Yorker and licensed real estate broker with Douglas Elliman Real Estate. “You can work there and also live there, and there are great restaurants.”

High-end retail shopping and trendy restaurants
The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards are a glossy central attraction for luxury shopping, views of the Vessel sculpture, and trendy dinner spots like BondST and Mercado Little Spain. A block away, Manhattan West houses multiple coffee shops and baked goods can be acquired at Daily Provisions. “Manhattan West has become a fashionable entertainment hub,” says Sally Matheu, Senior Vice President of Multi-Family U.S. East Operations at Brookfield Properties. “If you need to grab groceries at Whole Foods or just want a quick lunch at Citizens or Hidden Leaf Dumpling Bar, there is something for everyone.” For everyday items, a Target near West 34th Street and Seventh Avenue is a short walk away.
Hi-rise condos and Hudson River views
Large condominium towers make up a majority of the housing, and a two-bedroom condo in a luxury building with a pool and fitness center might cost between $4.2 million and $5 million. At 92 stories, 35 Hudson Yards is the tallest residential building in the area, and a three-bedroom three-bath condo in the Bavarian limestone and glass tower costs between $5.9 and $8 million. Outside of the Hudson Yards development, on the western side of the neighborhood toward midtown, older co-ops can be found, and a one-bedroom in a prewar doorman building might go for $500,000 to $1.2 million.
Steps from Hudson River Park
Hudson River Park, running along the western edge of the neighborhood, welcomes runners and cyclists and connects lower and upper Manhattan. Beautiful waterfront views and pickleball courts are located at Pier 76, whose entrance is marked with a massive propeller from the S.S. United States passenger ship. At 30th Street, pedestrians can access the High Line and travel south into Chelsea.
Summer salsa at Pier 76
Throughout the year events like movie screenings and dance performances take place in the plaza between The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards and The Shed, an arts center bordering the High Line. During the summer salsa dance nights are held at Pier 76.
Select subway lines, plus Amtrak, LIRR and a ferry stop
The 34 St-Hudson Yards subway station gives east-west access across Manhattan via the 7 train. The A, C and E trains can be found at the 34th Street-Penn Station stop, and Moynihan Train Hall, on Eighth Avenue, offers Amtrak and Long Island Rail Road service. Drivers can easily hop on the West Side Highway, and CitiBike stations can be found along the Hudson River Greenway. A ferry stop at West 39th Street connects to New Jersey and Wall Street.
