A little bit of everything

Over seventy years ago, Marin City was a thriving hub of industrial activity during World War II. "The whole area was full of shipbuilders. The federal government built housing and moved workers from the South to come build Liberty ships. After the war ended, the workers stuck around and slowly over time, other housing was built around it,” says John Zeiter, a Golden Gate Sotheby's Broker and Marin County native. Today, the waterside community remains sparkling with Bay Area beauty. From plentiful walking trails to many restaurants, the neighborhood has grown to include more color, culture and comforts since its shipbuilding days. “It’s a very lovely, diverse community. Everybody knows each other. You can walk around and say hello to people you recognize people on a regular basis," says Etienne Douglas, a Library Technology Program Coordinator at the Marin City Library.
