Proximity to D.C. with a community feel
Situated on a peninsula formed by the Belmont Bay, Gunston Cove and the Potomac River is Mason Neck a community 20 miles south of D.C. with plenty to brag about. “The schools, the parks, there is just so much to love in this community,” says Judy Wonus of RE/MAX Allegiance. “The county does so much to keep the parks clean, and the distance to D.C. is great for people who work there, but don’t want to live in the big city.” With thousands of acres of parks and dozens of miles of trails, it is no surprise that Mason Neck residents are known for staying active.
Large homes on quiet roads
Homes on the peninsula range from four-bedroom ranch-style homes that start in the $550,000 range, to large Colonials with views of the water that are in the $2 million ballpark. The majority of the homes in the area are four-bedroom homes from the 1960’s in the $800,000 range. The thin, winding streets are lined by mature trees and end in dead ends or cul-de-sacs to provide a sense of privacy. While the streets are narrow, you won’t need to worry about on-street parking as the homes feature driveways. There aren’t many sidewalks, but the expansive lawns are great for exercising pets.
