Suburban Neighborhood in Medford, New Jersey
Burlington County 08055
Surrounded by nature with plenty of hustle and bustle at its center, Medford Township maintains its rural roots in an age of steadily growing suburbs. “This is a very cute, quaint community with a lively historic main street that has shops and breweries and festivals throughout the year,” says Jennifer D'Alesandro, a local Realtor with Keller Williams who has over 20 years of experience. “We’ve got condos and town homes close to the town and more rural homes as you move away from town.”
Condos typically sell for between $290,000 and $715,000 and the more common rural homes on large lots sell for between $385,000 and $2,000,000. Homes can be anywhere from 1,400 to 7,000 square feet and lots range from 4,000 square feet to 6 acres. Some homes date as far back as the 1930s, with new construction as recent as 2023. Ranch-style homes come in brick and stucco varieties. You’ll find updated colonials and sprawling estates as well. Many homes have neat rows of windows and small front porches. “The houses outside of town are more custom and not so cookie cutter. A lot of them are pretty big and sit on large lots, usually an acre or more that’s heavily wooded,” says D'Alesandro. “And houses tend to sell quickly around here. I’d say most are only on the market for maybe 7 to 10 days.” Rolling green lawns with spacious backyards are shaded by mature trees and filled with additional amenities like pools and patios. Lush front yards are divided by long driveways.
Students in Medford Township can attend Kirby’s Mill Elementary School, which received an A rating from Niche. Some of the clubs they offer include yearbook, yoga and Lego club. Medford Township Memorial School is another option that received an A-minus rating from Niche and offers its own unique clubs like chess, film and STEM club. Lenape High School received an A rating from Niche and has a strong athletic program that includes football, cheerleading, field hockey and cross country.
The neighborhood is filled with green spaces, bike trails and sidewalks, and is surrounded by protected forests. Freedom Park is one example of a great place to get some fresh air and exercise. Let your little ones explore the playground and skate zone while your four-legged friends enjoy the dog park. Get your kids more involved with the community by signing them up for the Medford Soccer Club in Bob Bende Park. Or if you’re seeking a unique playground, Fort Medford offers a historically-themed experience with a fort-shaped play structure, puppet show stage, tire swing and climbing walls.
Start your day with a fresh cup from Harvest Coffee, a family-owned, small-batch roastery and cafe with everything from specialty espressos to coffee by the bag to in-house baked goods. Fill up with a hearty meal from Whole Hog Cafe, a laid-back barbecue joint with all the classic dishes. Sample ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage that have been slow-smoked to tasty perfection. If you’re not in a carnivorous mood, Honey Post is a great locally-owned spot with healthy bowls, smoothies and juices filled with fruits, veggies and superfoods.
If golf is your game, there are two nearby clubs to choose from. Golden Pheasant Golf Club is enjoyable by all skill levels and was voted #1 in Burlington County by the Burlington County Times. Don’t forget to swing by their banquet hall or sign up for golf lessons. Medford Lakes Country Club was established in the 1920s and is a private club geared toward making the entire family feel welcome.
Don’t forget about the neighborhood’s many events. The Apple Festival and Country Day at the Mill are a must-visit. Stick around for the Annual Quilt Show and Annual Art Exhibition as well. And with a convenient location just 30 minutes from Philadelphia and 45 minutes from the Jersey Shore, Medford Township residents have access to so much more. “People don’t only go into town for what they need,” says D'Alesandro. “We’ve also got easy access to the highways land can quickly get to many places nearby with their own shopping and restaurants like Cherry Hill or Mount Laurel.”
