Baytree
Mediterranean architecture and well-maintained lawns
Mediterranean-style architecture is around every corner in Baytree, with Spanish tile roofing and arched entryways. Many homes have backyard swimming pools, attached two-car garages and well-maintained yards. Most houses were built in the late 1990s and early 2000s and sit on quarter to half-acre lots. Ranch-style homes with around 2,500 square feet or fewer range from $440,000 to $700,000, while larger, multi-story builds can go for $710,000 to $1.2 million. “You’ll find newer homes here compared to nearby communities like Suntree,” Pacheco says. The Baytree Community Association has regulations regarding lawn maintenance, fencing and paint colors.A-minus-rated schools and dual enrollment offerings
Each of the area’s public schools earns an A-minus overall grade from Niche, starting with Quest Elementary School. Viera Middle School has dozens of unique elective course offerings, from aerospace technology to 3-D studio art. Viera High School is a designated Florida Purple Star school for its dedication to easing school transition periods for military students and families. High Schoolers can take courses in career and technical education programs like TV Production and Early Childhood Education. Eastern Florida State College partners with Viera High and offers a variety of dual enrollment courses.Community association amenities near the Brevard Zoo
The Baytree Community Association maintains public green spaces, tennis courts and a community swimming pool. The neighborhood newsletter announces regular community events and programs like small concerts, gardening classes and a women’s lunch group. The Baytree National Golf Links course winds through the neighborhood’s residential pockets with well-maintained greens and fairways for both members and day visitors. Membership includes access to private golf carts, the club house and 14-day advance tee times. The Brevard Zoo lies just west of Baytree and is home to over 800 animals, with activities like guided kayak tours, animal feedings and kids programs. “The zoo is one of the best things in Melbourne,” says Pacheco. “I’ve lived in the area for around 9 years and have visited over 30 times. It’s the perfect activity for when you have folks visiting from out of town.” The Brevard Zoo Linear Trail is open to the public and winds for over 3 miles through woodlands and open fields from the southside of the zoo to the Windover Farms neighborhood. The community is also less than 15 miles from both Satellite Beach and Cocoa Beach. “Cocoa Beach is a bit more touristy, but you’ve got the nice pier and a lot of shopping,” Pacheco says. “I like the peace and quiet, so I go to Hangars Beach near the Space Force base.”A popular shopping mall and big-box stores
The Avenue Viera mall is around 3 miles north of Baytree. The open-air shopping center has over 80 shops and restaurants, from clothing boutiques to home goods stores. The 28 North Gastropub serves scratch-made pub food with locally sourced ingredients, alongside specialty cocktails and craft beer. Amici’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria offers favorites like fettuccini al pesto and veal parmigiana, along with a large selection of wines. Amici’s is also home to a wine cellar and a family-run bakery. Additionally, big-box stores like Walmart, Target and Costco are within a 10-minute drive of the community.Public transit and Florida's international airports
Space Coast Area Transit operates the local bus routes, with numerous nearby stops along Wickham Road. Interstate 95 sits just west of the community and spans about 160 miles north to Jacksonville and roughly 75 miles north to Daytona Beach. Orlando International Airport is around 48 miles northwest. The nearby Melbourne Orlando International Airport provides a smaller selection of commercial flights and is around 15 miles away.
