The neighborhood is densely populated with single-family homes built around the mid-1900s. “These are traditional-style houses, with most going for around $150,000,” Bynum says. “You have owner-occupiers and a lot of investors as well.” The vast majority of houses are single-story and sit side-by-side on modest lots with an average size of about 9,000 square feet. Three-bedroom ranch-style homes with brick exteriors and attached carports are common, with prices ranging from about $85,000 to $175,000. New construction built in the early 2020s can be found in the eastern portion of Parkway Village, with three-bedroom modern bungalows starting at around $225,000.

Access to thoroughfares and public transportation
Parkway Village is located just south of Interstate 240, which connects to Interstate 40 to form a contiguous beltway around Memphis. The neighborhood is also located 15 miles southeast of Downtown Memphis, and Route 36 of the Memphis Area Transit Authority bus connects to the city center after making several stops along American Way. For longer trips, residents are conveniently located about 5 miles from the Memphis International Airport. The BNSF Railway runs diagonally through Parkway Village, and the sound of freight trains passing through can often be heard.
