Convenience is king in Flagami. With dozens of restaurants and several main roads right in the neighborhood, all the excitement of Miami is right at residents’ fingertips. “I loved it in Flagami,” says Gustavo Pacheco, a local Realtor with EXP Realty Living Premises. “I bought my first house there. The community is amazing. It’s close-knit. I knew all my neighbors. We were super tight. It’s been 2 years since I moved away, and I still talk to them.” Flagami sits on Miami’s western edge, in between West Miami, Coral Gables, Little Havana and Miami International Airport. “All of these popular areas touch Flagami, so you really get to take advantage of that,” Pacheco says. “You also get to take advantage of all the good food that’s right in Flagami. I gotta shout out Karla Bakery; they make the best Cuban coffee in the area by far. Eugenia makes it. It’s fantastic.”

Spanish Revival ranch-style homes
Many of Flagami’s single-family homes were built in the late 1940s, ‘50s, ‘70s and early ‘80s. They’re prime examples of Florida’s architectural vernacular, blending simplistic ranch-style builds with the almost pastoral charm of the Spanish Revival style. Smooth and rough stucco siding, earthy tones, elegant arches and terracotta barrel roof tiles are common characteristics among Flagami’s snugly set homes. Prices for single-family abodes typically start around $700,000 and max out at $1.2 million. These houses are also typically HOA-free. HOAs come into play more in the area’s low- and high-rise condominium buildings. Prices for multifamily homes start at $219,000, which is about the cost of a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, 550- to 700-square-foot condo.
Many residential homes have stone shingle roofs and large yards.
Many homes in Flagami are small but house happy residents.

Boating and baseball in Flagami
Antonio Maceo Park is right on the water with a handful of amenities, including a boat ramp that lets folks access the Blue Lagoon. This lagoon and the "airport" lakes are great spots to wrangle peacock bass with live bait. Sporting facilities for baseball, tennis and sand volleyball lie at Robert King High Park. There’s also a playground where local kids climb, slide and swing. Other Flagami parks include Charlie DeLucca Park, Bay of Pigs Memorial Park and West End Park. “Miami isn’t really a walking area, but there are sidewalks, so it’s easy to walk around Flagami if you want,” Pacheco says. “I remember going on walks in the morning or on the weekend and seeing people playing pickup baseball games at West End Park.”

Get some of the best Cuban food in town at El Palacio De Los Jugos.
El Palacio de los Jugos
If there’s one thing Flagami has in spades, it’s good eats. The signature red and yellow stripes of El Palacio de los Jugos have drawn in soon-to-be regulars since 1977. This casual eatery features hearty homestyle Cuban fare and fresh fruit juices. Latin Cafe 2000’s Le Juene location is another popular Cuban spot in Flagami, busiest during brunch on weekends when plates of croqueta benedict and tortilla de ropa vieja sell like hotcakes. For award-winning mac-and-cheese, sauced-up chicken and lip-smacking ribs, Original Uncle Tom’s Barbecue is the place to go, and it has been since 1948. Catch of the Day is another community favorite. It’s where the seafood is always fresh, and ESPN is always on.
Residents have a plethora of options for day-to-day shopping less than 5 miles away, including Publix, Walmart, Target, Sedano’s, Fresco y Mas and Sabor Tropical Supermarket.

Miami International Airport
Frequent flyers might favor Flagami for its location. The neighborhood is less than 5 miles from Miami International Airport. NW 57th Avenue, NW 42nd Avenue, W Flagler St and Tamiami Trail — or U.S. Route 41 — are Flagami’s main thoroughfares. They provide residents with simple routes to anywhere in the city, and the U.S. Route 41 extends all the way to Tampa, thus earning its “Tamiami” name. The Dolphin Expressway is nearby as well, simplifying the 7- to 10-mile drive to Downtown Miami. Miami, especially this far west, is a rather car-dependent city, but Flagami residents can find Metrobus stops clustered around West Flagler Street and Northwest 57th Avenue.
