Miami homes close to a variety of amenities
Developed in the 1960s and ‘70s, the Palmetto Estates neighborhood is a haven of homes outside of downtown Miami. The area offers a wide variety of customized ranch-style homes along neatly ordered streets with large lots and sidewalks. Homes have quick access to busy local roads, making both dining and shopping only a couple of miles away. Locals also have schools and parks in the neighborhood, so both learning and fun are within reach. The area also is home to multiple attractions, ranging from museums to zoos and golf courses, so residents always have options for weekend fun. With so much to do just minutes from serene homes, it is no wonder why “people who buy in Palmetto Estates stay for a lifetime,” says Francis Lewis, a Miami native and the office manager at RE/MAX Advance Realty II. “If they leave, they’re doing so to downsize or deal with a life event, like a family member passing away. It’s an incredibly stable community.”

A neighborhood full of customized ranchers
With winding roadways, decorative palms and manicured lawns, Palmetto Estates is a haven of suburban living right next to downtown Miami. Most homes are single-story ranch styles, with three to five bedrooms being most common. The area offers many options depending on how much TLC residents are willing to put into a property—from fixer-uppers starting around $250,000 to fully remodeled pool homes or coveted lakefront homes that fetch around $700,000. Two-bedroom condos are also available by the zoo and can sell between $200,000 and $350,000. “This is not a cookie-cutter neighborhood,” Lewis says. “No two homes look alike. Residents enjoy putting their own touches on things, which makes for surprises here and there.”
