On the banks of its namesake lake, Asbury Lake's quiet residences and waterfront houses offer a relaxed place to call home. The community feels secluded, but it's just 20 miles from the coast and 35 miles from downtown, so access to attractions and major employers is still convenient. "It's got such a hometown feeling," says Lisa Sweat, a Realtor with Florida Homes Realty and Mortgage and lifelong area resident. "This is a family-friendly neighborhood where everybody looks out for each other, and nobody worries about anything. I raised my daughters here, and I never once felt like I had to worry about them going off by themselves and playing outside." In addition to the hometown feel of the area, there is new construction surrounding the neighborhood promoting the growth of the community.

A variety of home styles in Asbury Lake
Homes here vary from traditional mid-century, ranch-style homes to lakeside log cabins and brand-new builds. The variety of architecture and prices are part of what Sweat says makes the neighborhood so desirable. "Everybody likes driving through here just to look at the array of homes," she says. "The older section has homes built in the '70s and '80s with bigger lots, so neighbors aren't right on top of each other." Many of these older homes are set right on Lake Asbury and range from $550,000 to $800,000, depending on the lot size and amount of water frontage. There are also new traditional and contemporary subdivisions in the neighborhood's eastern reaches, several of which are gated. Prices here often range from $300,000 to $500,000.
