An exclusive neighborhood with low availability
Atop the northern bluff overlooking Milwaukee Bay, Northpoint stands out from the rest of the east side. With carefully preserved architecture and many parks along Lake Michigan, residents all over the city head to Northpoint. Properties in this wealthy and desirable neighborhood rarely go up for sale, and when they do, they sell fast. Along the curved residential streets mirroring the shape of the shore, views of downtown Milwaukee can be seen just beyond the neighborhood's southern end while the lake is visible from the east.
The Northpoint neighborhood makes for a wonderful walk even if your on the clock.

Perfectly preserved mansions
Walking through the streets, one can see distinctive homes designed by renowned architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Adolph Finker and Hans Liebert. "Some of the old historic original mansions are as large as 8,000-10,000 square feet and date back to 1915," says Marcus Auerbach, owner of OnPoint Realty Group. The mixture of striking examples of architecture ranges from Queen Anne Victorian homes with decorative pitched roofs and bay windows to classic brick Colonial and Mediterranean Revivals. The median single-family household price sits just under $1,000,000, with some reaching upwards of $2,000,000. "The high-rise condos are a fantastic option," Auerbach says, which can exist for as low as $250,000. While some homes have backyards, many utilize the space behind their houses for private detached garages, and residents often walk along the well-maintained sidewalks lined with tall, established trees.
Northpoint is known for its grand historic homes.

Panoramic views of Lake Michigan
Lake Park is a fixture of the neighborhood for residents to enjoy stretches of nature trails, group yoga or ice skating in the winter. At the park's southern end is the North Point Lighthouse, a 74-foot maritime treasure giving spectacular views of the great lake and the Northpoint neighborhood. The Oak Leaf Trail, part of a 135-mile trail system around Milwaukee County, connects the park's golf course and athletic fields. The Oak Leaf Trail also passes through Northpoint's other green space, Back Bay Park with its small playground, down to McKinley Park, beach and marina, where residents from all over Milwaukee jet out for sailing on Lake Michigan.

European and Korean cuisine
Café Hollander has a European-style interior, serving Belgian beer and north-western European comfort food like the famous Sconnie burger served on a pretzel bun. This café, decorated with bicycles and furniture with vintage charm, also features heated igloos on their patio in the winter for cold-weather dining. Northpoint residents can shop at the gluten and dairy-free Blooming Lotus Bakery for breakfast pastries and dessert treats. The in-town Maru Korean Bistro has Korean classics like budae jjigae, a spicy "army base stew" popular among soldiers and civilians during the Korean War. Whole Foods Market sits in Northpoint, and Walmart, Aldi and Office Max are north of the neighborhood in Williamsburg Heights.

Language and culture immersion schools
As many large-city dwellers do, the residents of this wealthy Milwaukee neighborhood often send their children to private schools such as Catholic East Elementary. For those looking for public education, Golda Meir School magnet school offers pre-k through 12th grade and is rated an A-minus at all levels. Students may also attend a language and culture immersion school for Chinese, French or German or one of many public Montessori schools.

Festivals for every occasion
Bringing in both locals and tourists alike, Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum gives a glimpse into the architectural history of Northpoint. This sprawling 1920s Mediterranean-style villa holds rotating art exhibits and has a Renaissance Garden original to the home. Known as The Brew City, it's no surprise that residents all over Milwaukee head to Northpoint's McKinley Park for the annual Brewfest. Additionally, "there's a festival almost every weekend downtown - the biggest ones being Summerfest, Germanfest and Polishfest," Auerbach says. "There's a lot of celebrated diversity in Milwaukee."

A quick drive or bike ride for commuters
Less than three miles from downtown, Northpoint has many commuters driving the short distance to and from work. Northpoint is a walker and biker paradise, as the ample sidewalks and proximity to shopping and dining make for a quick trip to many retail options. Directly to the west of Northpoint is St. Mary's Hospital, and while conveniently close, this also brings some added noise to the neighborhood. Occasional traffic on North Lincoln Memorial Drive occurs as it runs along the perimeter for a scenic drive by Lake Michigan.
