Set 12 miles northwest of downtown Milwaukee, Wyrick Park is a small community of homes and condos that share a stretch of trees and lush foliage. As a result, the otherwise typically suburban neighborhood has a natural landscape, giving its homes a more woodsy feel. Residents are attracted to the area for this rustic atmosphere, along with its easy access to nearby schools and lower-than-average real estate prices.
Midcentury designs and multi-family options
Lined with the leafy arms of oak and maple trees, the neighborhood's streets are shaded during the warmer months. Homes generally come with single-car driveways with garages to match, keeping the area free of most street parking. Midcentury-style homes are on quarter-acre lawns, often decorated with split-rail fencing and carefully manicured shrubbery. Multi-family units make up most of the local housing, with single-bedroom condos starting in the mid-$60,000s and reaching as high as the low $200,000s as they increase in size. Single-family homes make up less than 4% of the housing options and are also midcentury designs built in the 1960s and '70s. Ranch and split-level models typically start in the mid-$100,000s and peak in the mid-$200,000s, depending on square footage and proximity to schools. The average home price in the area is $150,000, below the citywide average of $290,000.
School of Distinction at Clara Barton
Two schools affiliated with Milwaukee Public Schools operate in Wyrick Park: Clara Barton Elementary School and GreenTree Preparatory Academy. The state education department has named it a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports School of Distinction. GreenTree Prep, currently unranked by Niche, was established in 2019 and welcomes students in grades six through 12 to engage in a a STEM and leadership-focused curriculum.
Indoor sports at Uihlein Soccer Park
Wyrick Park gets its name from the 17-acre green space in the southern part of the neighborhood. Most of the park is an open, grassy expanse with more than enough room to play pickup soccer, toss the frisbee or stretch out on a picnic blanket. Visitors can use the small playground or explore the short, heavily wooded walking trail. Uihlein Soccer Park, a mile west of the neighborhood, offers adult and youth leagues for players as young as 3. Thanks to its three indoor turf fields, matches happen even when it’s cold out. “We are booked solid during the winter months,” says director of marketing and corporate engagement Chelsea Metzger, adding that the facility also has lacrosse, ultimate frisbee and dance competitions. The Wisconsin Country Club and The University Club of Milwaukee are northwest and northeast of the neighborhood. Both have 18-hole championship golf courses and require memberships to play.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data.
