Over the eastern shore of Meander Creek Reservoir is a small, unincorporated community with a population of just over 4,000. Mineral Ridge is a residential corridor between Austintown and Niles, only 10 miles from Youngstown. Branching off the community’s thoroughfare, South Main Street, are established homes, local restaurants and well-rated public institutions.

Housing in Mineral Ridge is predominantly from the latter half of the 20th century. When locals want to get outside, they grab their bikes and hit the Niles Greenway. The 4-mile paved path travels from Mineral Ridge into its northern neighbor, Niles. Because there are no parks in Mineral Ridge, locals bring their families to the parks in Niles when they want to spend time outside. The Niles Greenway leads toward Murphy Park, which has a small playground, a basketball court and ample green space. Or, locals enjoy the amenities at Woodland Park. The park has a playground for the kids, tennis courts and a sand volleyball court for local athletes.

Public transportation is not directly accessible in Mineral Ridge, but residents can hop on the bus in Austintown. The Western Reserve Transit Authority can take locals across Mahoning County. Locals who commute often use Highways 80, 680, and 46. If traveling into Youngstown, residents have a 10-mile trip eastbound on 680.
