Residential streets feature two-story houses from the early 1900s, many with Craftsman details, Foursquare and Victorian homes. There are also duplexes and condos. The architectural gems, primarily built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, are reminiscent of when lumber barons and industrialists called this corner of the city home. Expect to find Queen Anne-type styles dominating the scene, with their intricate detailing, bay windows and varied rooflines adding a touch of whimsy to the streetscape. Outdoor experiences, by land or by water
The Midtown Greenway brings a year-round biking and walking trail to the Phillips neighborhood. Residents can head east for a riverside adventure along the Mississippi River or west to enjoy the beaches and bicycle paths along the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Regional Park. In 2006, the Phillips community came together to create Midtown Global Market, a popular international market with over 40 stalls in the former Sears building on Lake Street.
