While just under a mile wide and only three blocks long, Stevens Square is one of the city's most densely populated areas, home to 4,000 residents. A mix of historic and contemporary buildings make up the area, and Loring Park, Eat Street and downtown are all within walking distance. Old meets new in these condos

Historic brownstones offer residents views of the Minneapolis skyline. Some buildings date back to the early 1900s and feature exposed brick and other charming classic touches. Townhouses and condominiums make up the majority of residential housing in Stevens Square, with most people in the area renting. In addition to the older condominiums, there are some modern, updated condo buildings in the area. Craftsman-style homes and Tudor-revival houses can be found in the area as well. A park, a community hub

Though the neighborhood is heavily paved and densely populated, there are a few green spaces where locals can enjoy the outdoors. The neighborhood was built around Stevens Square Park, which offers a playground, basketball courts, walking paths and picnic areas. The park is home to Red Hot Art, a diverse arts festival. There's also Overlook Garden, where residents can enjoy the beauty of a natural habitat garden home to butterflies, birds and bumblebees. The gardens also offer a stunning view of the Minneapolis skyline. The expansive Loring Park is nearby, too, featuring many recreational activities with biking paths, tennis and basketball courts, a fishing pier and more.

Tasting Eat Street

Eat Street, a stretch of Nicollet Avenue known for packing an array of diverse restaurants into its few blocks, runs through Stevens Square. Locals have their pick when it comes to dining out. Mortimer's Bar & Restaurant offers live music, foosball and happy hour specials. Residents can start their days with lavender lattes and fancy waffles at Boiler Room Coffee, the neighborhood's dog-friendly cafe. Getting around: commutes made easy

Just south of downtown Minneapolis, Stevens Square offers access to I-94 to the north, Interstate 35W to the east, Franklin Avenue to the south and Lyndale Avenue to the west.
