Horse-country lifestyle in suburban Miramar
Slightly west of central Miramar, Country Club Ranches is an equestrian-friendly neighborhood with a rural vibe. “It’s an oasis of homes on one acre, often more, surrounded by suburban residential areas in Miramar, an ideal location for people who want open spaces, acreage and horses,” says John Lucka, a RE/MAX Select Group of Florida broker associate with going on 50 years of real estate experience. Close to highways and other urban amenities, the bucolic calm doesn’t come at the cost of convenience.
New Traditional and ranch-style homes with land
The neighborhood’s original ranch-style homes were built in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s. Many are still standing, but Lucka says new residents are increasingly tearing them down to build New Traditionals or more modern ranches in their place. Prices range between about $1.2 million and $2.6 million, depending on the home’s size, age and acreage. On average, it takes longer than 100 days for homes to move from listing to closing, much longer than the national average of 46.
Highly rated Broward County Public Schools
Country Club Ranches students attend Broward County Public Schools, including Coral Grove Elementary, which earns a B-plus from Niche, Glades Middle and Everglades High, which both get A-minuses. The high school offers several application-based programs like exercise science, applied cybersecurity and Project RED, an engineering and design program. A-rated Somerset Academy, a couple miles away, is a tuition-free public charter school for kindergarten through eighth grade.
Outdoor recreation at Country Club Ranches Park, Miramar Regional Park
Country Club Ranches Park anchors the neighborhood with an equestrian-themed community center, a playground and trails. Monarch Lakes Park has a pavilion and a walking track about a mile north. Miramar Regional Park, less than 4 miles away, has almost 200 acres of recreational amenities, from an aquatics complex to athletic fields. The park hosts events like the annual Kite Festival in March and the Easter Eggstravaganza in April. Open-air concerts are held in the amphitheater.
Central Miramar has shopping, dining, entertainment
Miramar Town Center is a busy downtown district less than 3 miles away, home to the Miramar Public Library and the Miramar Cultural Center & ArtsPark, a performance venue and gallery. The cultural center hosts off-Broadway musicals, kids shows and concerts, as well as small festivals and expos. Eateries like La Famiglia Italian Restaurant and El Rey de la Salchipapa Miami, a Colombian spot, are scattered around the walkable district, between beauty parlors and other small businesses. Miramar Parkway, the commercial corridor connecting the town center to Country Club Ranches, has more retailers and restaurants. Rosalia’s Kitchen is a favorite for Italian-Mediterranean fusion. For groceries, there’s a Publix, an Aldi and a Sprouts.
Broward County Transit Route 28 connects Memorial Hospital Miramar and Aventura Mall, with several stops on Miramar Parkway, just north of Country Club Ranches. The hospital is less than 5 miles northwest, while the mall is over 13 miles southeast. Interstate 75 and Florida’s Turnpike are also nearby. Miami International Airport is nearly 30 miles away, about a 45-minute drive, depending on traffic. Country Club Ranches’ CAP Index crime score is 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
