Condos and townhomes by the lake

At the bottom of the price range, home buyers will find two-bedroom units in mid-rise buildings with composite wood or tile flooring for under $250,000. Parking is a standard amenity in such complexes; some have pools and small gyms. The real estate in Lakeshore at University Park is mainly made up of condos; however, there are some more upscale gated townhouse communities, such as Lakeshore at University Park, where a four-bedroom unit with a small yard can be found for under $450,000. On the south side of Lakeshore Park, stand-alone ranch-style homes with three bedrooms built in the late 20th century represent the top of this market, selling for under $500,000.

Charters and IB schools serve Lakeshore

Local Sea Castle Elementary School received a B-minus on Niche, and Somerset Preparatory Charter Middle School received a B. Miramar High School also received a B-minus on Niche and is a prestigious International Baccalaureate Program member. The South Campus of Broward College is caddy-corner to the northeast of Lakeshore at University Park.

Golf and tennis are popular pastimes

Around 15% of the community is green space. Lakeshore Park is the largest in this small neighborhood and offers clay tennis courts, handball courts, ample playgrounds and a pavilion for parties. Forzano Field has a sand-floored playground and a volleyball court. Caddy-corner to the northwest, Hollybrook Golf & Tennis Club is part of the 55-plus community of the same, but it opens its golf course and pool to the general public every summer. Hollywood Beach is just 8 miles east of Lakeshore at University Park, and the thousands of acres of the Everglades Wildlife Management Area are accessible 20 miles to the northwest.

Family friendly places to eat

A Walmart Supercenter and a Sam’s Club are within walking distance to most homes in Lakeshore at University Park. The Conch Krawl, a popular Caribbean restaurant, is on the southeastern corner of the community. A mile north, Pembroke Commons Mall has a Publix and a few family restaurants, such as Chuck E. Cheese and a Korean steakhouse. Broward Meat & Fish of Pembroke Pines regional market also operates here. Those looking for a night out can head a few miles east to JOEY Aventura for steaks and margaritas. The upscale spot is one of Eater Magazine’s Best New Restaurants in Miami, helmed by a Top Chef Canada winner. Under 2 miles south, Lakeshore residents can visit the Calder Casino or the Hard Rock Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins and the yearly Miami Grand Prix.

Lakeshore at University Park is centrally located within Broward County. It lies 4 miles east of Interstate 95, which runs across the entire Eastern Seaboard of the United States. The Florida Turnpike is just a mile west. This community is well-placed for commuters, 15 miles from Miami, 10 miles from Fort Lauderdale and 5 miles from Hollywood.
