Colonial Heights is almost perfectly situated between two of the largest recreational facilities in Mobile. Magnolia Grove Golf Course comprises over 650 acres of land just north of the neighborhood, and Langan Park has walking trails, tennis courts and an art museum immediately south. Along with nearby outdoor amenities, Colonial Heights has a grocery store and a few local businesses on Moffet Road. Jeanice Durgin, a local Realtor and Associate Broker at iXL Real Estate, describes the community as an “older, well-established neighborhood” with a “newer feel.” She says, “A lot of people over there take good care of their properties, so it has a great look and feel for not being in a high-price area – at least, that’s the feedback I get from most of my clients in Colonial Heights.”

Clark Shaw Magnet is an Alabama Bicentennial School of Excellence
Colonial Heights students are zoned for Mobile County Schools. Orchard Elementary scores a C on Niche. Clark Shaw Magnet is one of the top-ranked middle schools in the area, earning a B-plus on Niche. It’s an Alabama Bicentennial School of Excellence and offers the only Cognia-certified STEM program in the state’s southern region. Mary G. Montgomery High receives a C-plus.

U.S. Route 98 connects downtown in about 10 miles
Colonial Heights sits at the far west edge of Mobile’s city limits. It’s bordered by U.S. Route 98, which links to the downtown district in about 10 miles. Mobile’s first international airport is currently under construction downtown at the Brookley Aeroplex. Closer to Midtown, the Springhill Medical Center sits just off Interstate 65.

It’s only 2 miles to Langan Park
Langan Park sits about 2 miles from Colonial Heights. As Mobile’s largest green space, the 720-acre park has paved walking trails around a central duck pond, a full-length disc golf course and a playground. It’s also home to one of the world’s largest public tennis facilities, which hosts tournaments and practice clinics throughout the year. Residents can visit the Mobile Museum of Art for free each Thursday or pay a small fee to walk through the botanical gardens along Twelvemile Creek. Azalea City Golf Course is open to the public every day right next door. Anyone can pay to play on one of the renovated courses at Magnolia Grove Golf Course, which sits just north of Colonial Heights.

Gamers N Geeks has a mini arcade
Groceries are found in a small neighborhood shopping center on Moffett Road. It has a Piggly Wiggly, a few fast-food spots and local businesses. Gamers N Geeks is one of the largest and most unique games stores on the Gulf Coast. Comprising over 20,000 square feet, the warehouse-like store sells all kinds of old-school board games and video games: plus, there’s a mini-arcade in the back. Dozens of local restaurants and national retailers line Airport Boulevard about 5 miles southeast.
